Daniel Boyd (1066 KP) rated The Secret Life of Pets (2016) in Movies

Great Animation
A fun movie for everybody
The only kind of movie that I have ever fell asleep watching in the cinema, is a kid’s movie, but there is no chance of you falling asleep during this one. Funny, witty and a lot of fun. The animation is fantastic, the voice acting is on point and if you are a pet owner the whole thing becomes more relatable and even funnier. This is how to make a great kids film, it doesn’t just totally appeal to the kids and ignore the adults watching, but it is also totally family friendly and the characters are all well written, well voiced and they all bounce off of each other very well to make probably the best kids movie I’ve seen this year.

Emma Tucker (52 KP) rated It (2017) in Movies

As a MASSIVE Stephen King fan I was slightly anxious about this film but I was pleasantly surprised. They missed a few parts of the book but it is a huge book so I can't really fault that. The whole way through I was wondering where the second part of the book was gonna come in so I'm glad there's a second film. The only thing that really annoyed me was the people in the cinema that only went for a scary film when It is so much more than that. I live how clever King is in his writing and imagery and this is slightly lost when his books are transferred to the screen. But all in all I really loved it and the kids especially where incredible at playing the roles.

Not scary at all (1 more)
Confusing plot
I wasn't expecting much from the film and I wasn't shocked when it turned out to be the worst film I'd watched for years. The plot is barely there and it certainly doesn't follow any structure that I could work out. Jumpscares are probably the scariest part of the film and they were hardly 'scary' either. I've never wanted to leave a film in the cinema before but I was ready to grab my bag and leave when it became evident that the film was trying too hard to be scary visually (of which it failed spectacularly) and there were no clever intricacies in the plot to really put the goolies up you. The legend of Slender Man really has not been done justice.

I was SO looking forward to going to see Judy. And it’s lovely to see Renee Zellweger looking herself after “that” plastic surgery (possibly).
RZ singing was awesome, it was all very glossy and I even shed a tear. So I’m not sure why I left the cinema slightly disappointed in the whole thing.
Basically the story is the end of Judy Garlands life when she was a pill popping soak who couldn’t get a job and the 5 days she performed at The Talk of the Town, London..
I don’t know if it was because it seemed to end quite suddenly or what. However, I did enjoy it enough to want to watch it again, if only for RZ performance which was outstanding.

Russ Troutt (291 KP) rated White Boy Rick (2018) in Movies

I pushed some major weight tonight, when I got up out of my recliner to go see White Boy Rick. I ain't no snitch, but let me tell you, this movie is dope. One thing that is great about this movie is it's not so much about the drugs and that life, I mean it's a big part of the storyline, but rather it focuses on something even more influential and valuable on the streets; family. Now, this can't be found at your local mom and pop video store, you're gonna have to get your fix at your local cinema house. Like a teenager at a skating rink I gotta roll, and if someone asks who said this was a good movie, you can tell 'em White Boy Russ told ya so.

Kirk Bage (1775 KP) rated Billy Elliot (2000) in Movies

“What boys do ballet?” One of my favourite memories of being in a cinema. It was The Filmhouse, Edinburgh, and we had heard this was getting good reviews, but were less than keen. From the first needle drop on T-Rex, through London Calling and The Jam, as Billy explores his passion for dance and expression in the face of Northern English prejudice and fear, I was in rapture! Julie Walters is the cornerstone performance-wise, but the immediate screen presence of Jamie Bell as Billy is undeniable. It reminds me so much of my own story that it will never fail to remain special. The feel good takes a while, and comes with lots of painful moments. But… when dad and brother witness that final moment… goosebumps on goosebumps!
