This is a game that I would consider a modern board gaming classic. A map is made up of various resource tiles, ranging from sheep, ore, wood, clay and wheat. Up to 4 players pit themselves against one another to achieve 10 victory points, either from building additional settlements (you start with 2, each one being worth 1 point), upgrading settlements to a city (1 extra point per city), owning the longest road, having the largest army (determined by the number of knight cards drawn from a deck), or achieving victory points directly through acquisition from said deck. This is a game where it is important to ensure you have a good mix of resources, as they are all required at some stage, as well as negotiating with the other players for appropriate resources. They will of course scupper your efforts along the way, so it is a fine line between getting what you want Vs satisfying your need for revenge when someone manages to steal some of your resources or builds a settlement on a spot you needed. In terms of strategy, one should always remember that this game is based on die rolls and is therefore strategy based on chance. To make the best of the game, it is often prudent to seek to have settlements on locations which may provide for the full spread of resources as well as having a port position to allow for trading with the bank, where other players will not oblige. Additionally, 2 roads are require dbetween each settlement, therefore working towards a triangual position of three settlements is optimal, where possible, based on where other players are on the board.

Card Drafting and Civilization building at it's finest, with a large player count which is so hard to find.
love this game, plus it's 2 player version 7 Wonders Duel. it's a really great light to medium weight game about how you choose to build your civilization. You start with a wonder, which gives you a starting power/resource, then you build from there by adding card to your tableau which in turn gives you the ability to buy more things. you can build your military and bully your neighbors, or focus on knowledge, or make sure your civilization is rich with resources and money, and trade with your neighbors... Each thing you do builds up to doing more. Great Game especially showcases what modern games can do and still good for relative beginners to the Board game world.

Civilization Building Strategy Perfection
I have yet to play Civilization VI, but Civilization V has been my favorite in the series so far. They switched tiles from being four-sided to five-sided, and that extra direction adds plenty of nuance to the game by itself. Military units are streamlined, cities get bigger and better looking as they grow, and it's always a joy to see the wonders you build appear in the landscape. I've sunk a lot of time into full length matches, and usually prefer to win through military action or science, but I have managed a few diplomatic victories as well. The religion system has never really interested me, but I'm sure winning that way appeals to some. It's a great and massive game to get lost in.

A re-imagining of the themes of 7 Wonders aka drafting and civilization building for a 2 player scenario. I love this game as it utilizes some public and hidden information to make every decision count. The draft setups allow for planning and many different strategies exist. It's a wonderful take on the core themes of the original game and makes it even better! The card quality isn't the best so it's best to get some sleeves for them.

Great two player adaptation
My wife and I like this game for its smaller table footprint, speedy turn play and the play time is not extensive. This game is about creating your own ancient civilization. There are multiple paths to victory, and it is important that you think out your goal based on the cards laid before you and observing what your opponent is doing. You can achieve victory through military might, having a strong economy to get lots of money, or just building the best buildings and getting your wonders made.

Note this is for the same game as played on iOS, but wasn't able to select that as a platform.
This was an attempt to give a version of the Civilization games on a mobile platform. For me it just didn't work. Yes you had the key things from the main games such as City building, exploration and everything, but the sizes of the maps just made it impossible to move around after only a few short turns due to expanding rival cities blocking off the path.

I prefer to play a less warmongery style but you're forced into battling rivals in this version simply because you can't get anything done if you don't.
