Mel (490 KP) rated Let Sleeping Vets Lie in Books
Oct 18, 2019
This book is a lovely, easy, comfortable read. It isn't taxing and it won't set the world alight but it is a light hearted depiction of a bygone age with funny stories of James Herriot's early life as a vet.
There were a couple of sections that haven't aged as well like the story where he drives down to late night job after copious tastings of home brewed wine but other than that there is very little to offend and a lot to enjoy.

Sarah Betts (103 KP) rated Haunted House Murder in Books
Dec 31, 2019
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This book is three stories by three different authors.
The first two weren't my thing as they featured doormat wives, terrible husband's, and intrusive neighbors.
But the third one was great. It featured a haunted house tour and a reenactment of a murder and the couple involved actually seemed to like each other!
Don't get me wrong the first two weren't badly written, just not my cup of tea!

Barry Newman (204 KP) rated Heathers (1988) in Movies
Feb 9, 2020
A darker murderous take on the high school movie that is a fairly accurate representation of the cliques and the desperate desire to be popular that exist in high school. Christian Slater and Winona Ryder (in her early Tim Burton days) were great casting choices and make for a believable couple until the murder and mayhem start getting out of hand. Its perhaps looking a little dated now but it's still a very sharp and witty script and still quite relevant today. Well worth your time.

Not bad
This movie turned out better than I thought it would. Kevin Bacon is a decent actor and overall the acting was good in this one. The cinematography was well done. The story, while slightly predictable, had a few good little twists and turns. Nothing gory or that scary about this one. It had a couple of jump scares, but mostly this was a more cerebral tale. If you're into "lost souls" types of horror films, you'll enjoy this one. Worth a watch.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Reasons I Fell for the Funny Fat Friend in Books

I liked this. It made me laugh in places and i loved the banter between them. I think this is the first YA book I've read where the entire book is from the guy's perspective. It was different for me and i have to admit that i liked being in Brody's head. He's such a nice guy.
As for Hayley. She seemed like a great character from the beginning and i can truely see why Brody fell for her. They make a really cute couple.
