Danii19936 (3 KP) rated The Handmaid's Tale - Season 1 in TV
Aug 20, 2018
My absolute favourite series at the moment! Despite the dystopian setting it is scary how real the problems portrayed can seem and how possible the world feels! This is the only time I will probably ever say this but I much prefer the TV series than the book, not to say it’s a bad book, but that the show is that’s good!

Questions, questions. Where's Evan? What happened to the camp? Ben and Cassie? Cassie and Evan? Will anyone get their real name back? Where are they going?
A gripping read with a scifi and dystopian feel. I had no idea cover to cover who to trust, who were good guys and bad guys. So much potential going into the next book.

Classic dystopian novel about the US and if the Germans had won the war
Philip K. Dick is the godfather of Science Fiction, especially creating alternative realities and dystopian futures. In this case, he puts the point what would the world look like if Hitler had won the Second World War?
In this version, citizens of Jewish origin begin to be hunted down alongside those with ethnic minorities, except for the Japanese, given their support during the war. Amid this turmoil, is a mysterious and controversial book floating around, that explains what America would look like if they had won.
This is a bit of mind trip as a result, and it does end rather abruptly. However, the writing is gripping and you're desperate to find out how the man in the high castle connects to the story.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Breathe (Breathe, #1) in Books
Jan 12, 2018
[Breathe] by [Sarah Crossan] was a dystopian novel where the government manipulated people to remain in power. The earth's atmosphere has been depleted so badly that the air can not sustain life. Or, that is what people believe. [Crossan] creates a world full of lies and intrigue but characters that are heroic and keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen.
Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Divided We Fall (Divided We Fall, #1) in Books

Could you imagine being the cause of a civil war? That is exactly what Phillip is facing. How will he protect his family and himself?
[Trent Reedy] did a good job creating a very possible situation and showing the consequences in [Divided We Fall]. Although the novel is fiction with a dystopian feel it is something that could actually happen, which makes it more compelling.

A commercial flop upon it's 1982 release and gaining cult status much later on.
This is a personal favourite and a classic from the Vangelis soundtrack and exquisite performances to the dystopian future visuals, I am fully aware this film is divisive, however I believe this to be one of Scott's finest movies alongside Alien, "I want more time F****r"
