Gina Carano recommended Braveheart (1995) in Movies (curated)

Braveheart (1995)
Braveheart (1995)
1995 | Drama, History, War

"Another one of mine is Braveheart. I just loved the whole — I mean, I love anything that you can really feel. That was such a beautiful story, and the way it was filmed, and just the heart — it just grabs your attention and you can’t stop watching it. The tragedy in it. It’s epic. It’s one of those movies you can only dream about being in. I think I watched that movie before every fight. And I cry at the end of that movie. I must have seen it millions of times. I’m like that: I like to watch movies over and over and over, and so I’ve done that with Braveheart."

David Duchovny recommended Chinatown (1974) in Movies (curated)

Chinatown (1974)
Chinatown (1974)
1974 | Classics, Drama, Mystery

"I’m gonna say Chinatown. That’s just great storytelling, acting, directing. I think Polanski’s an amazing director. It’s opera, you know. It’s the biggest issues. You can’t tell an epic without a big problem, and Chinatown is brilliant in the sense of Los Angeles history — the whole creation of the Valley, and the diversion of water to make the Valley. [Screenwriter] Robert Towne was able to take a very interesting historical fact — what’d he call it, Mulwray instead of Mulholland? — and tell this amazing personal story about it. I like that very much. I guess The Godfather is similar to that in many ways; obviously based on certain facts. I like that historical aspect to Chinatown as well."

The Godfather: Part II (1974)
The Godfather: Part II (1974)
1974 | Crime, Drama

"Then I gotta go Godfather II. I think it was my first, “Wow, I feel like I just watched an epic.” Because you get both sides of the story, because you’re able to see where De Niro’s coming from, just seeing those guys in the movie. Again, I think there’s something that, when a sequel can hit it right, to keep pushing, instead of, “Let’s capitalize on what we did the first time.” And for me, maybe one the first movies where I felt like, “Ooh, we’re getting a backstory.” That, to me, was really thrilling. And just to see those guys, that young and hungry. I mean, that’s it. That’s it, right there."

Blazing Minds (92 KP) rated Avengers: Endgame (2019) in Movies

Nov 1, 2021 (Updated Nov 3, 2021)
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
2019 | Sci-Fi, Thriller
The story and the route it takes is a perfect continuation of Infinity War and it’s a film that is one that brings the Avengers to a conclusion that is worthy of being called an epic and a film that gets that high rating in my reviews. It has so many things that you can sit down and talk about with those have already seen it, sharing moments that may have surprised you during the viewing, Avengers Endgame is going to go down in history as a movie that had fans in tears watching in cinemas around the world and having everyone saying, “but what now? How can we go on with the MCU?“.

Mothergamer (1625 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Assassin's Creed: Odyssey in Video Games

Great Game
Odyssey is definitely a bit different from the games before it, but that's not a bad thing. The story hooks you in right from the start and the game mechanics work well. You can play as either Alexios or Kassandra and it doesn't change the story at all; it's just a matter of preference. The world map is huge to the point where it can be a little overwhelming, but you can take it a little at a time since each area shows you what level you need to be. There are a ton of side missions, legendary hunts, and mythological monster fights as well as the main story quests. There are epic naval battles and conquest battles as well which are a lot of fun. Half the fun for me was just exploring all of ancient Greece. There is so much to see and do. The game is not completely perfect. There were game breaking bugs. The biggest one is the game dropping frames and freezing completely while in enemy forts. The only solution to it is to close the game completely and restart it. There are also audio sync issues sometimes in the game where the voices are not synced with the character talking. Other than that, the game is great. It's a lot of fun to play, the story and characters are interesting, and it offers a variety of things to do in the game like crafting better armor and weapons for yourself. Once the main story is done, there's still tons of things to do and with the upcoming DLC there will be even more to do. Overall, it's a great game.
