Nicholas Sparks recommended Titanic (1997) in Movies (curated)

Titanic (1997)

"Titanic: the world’s second highest grossing film in history. It is really the only love story in the top five that feels epic. I know Casablanca is set against the backdrop of World War II, and yet this one is epic, a giant ship, and we all know what’s going to happen. We don’t really know who was on board, but they came up with a story about a couple that falls in love while they’re on board. To me, that has earned it its place in the top five"

What an epic story! I loved every single second of it and I cannot wait to read the second book as I am dying to know what happens to Ash, Violet and Raven. The world building captured my imagination and the story came to life.

This is a must read and the cover is stunning.

"I’m not that keen on contrafactual books. Erpenbeck’s novel is something different, though. By letting people die and then come to life again in the next chapter, she tells an epic family story covering an essential part of Europe’s 20th century."

I love a good apocalyptic saga and this didn't disappoint. King develops believable and realistic characters who you want to follow to the end of the earth, and you do.

Absolutely riveting!
This is my absolute favourite book of all time!! It's such an epic story of betrayal and revenge - you become completely and utterly lost in the story - you care about the characters, their futures.. Every time I read it I pick up on something new, it's just an absolute classic that everyone should read!

EPIC
A movie that still scares me even at 39 years old. It's one of the most suspensful thrillers of all time and still ranks high of movies that I can always watch even though it frightens me to death.

Almost and Epic watch
Movie is phenomenal. Crowes best performance in a movie in my opinion ever. A man stricken of his title build up the men he is captive with to prove who he truly is. Suspenseful and dramatic.

Story lost its aim and felt rushed
More effort and this could've been epic
While I wouldn't discourage anyone from reading this, it didn't live up to the fun its title suggested.

Amazing action scenes
Great soundtrack
Slated by critics? However this is a moving film based around the events of Pear Harbour. It may take the story in the direction of two friends who grow up together to become pilots and fall for the same woman, but an underlying love story didn't cause Titanic any problems? The SFX are amazing and the bombing of Pearl Harbour is done on a huge scale and saddening to watch. This is a true epic of a film, artistically shot, well directed and with great lead actors which handle the tragic event so well.
