Murder of a Recluse, Theft of an Antique Jar
Kate Hamilton is back in the village of Long Barston to help her friend with his antiques business while he recovers from surgery and spend more time with Detective Inspector Tom Mallory. One afternoon, a woman comes into the store with a valuable piece of Chinese pottery she wants to sell on consignment. But that night, she stumbles onto the stage of the village’s May Fair pageant and dies. Almost immediately, Tom gets a call about the antique shop, and he and Kate go there to find that the pottery is missing. Can Kate figure out what is going on?
It was a pleasure to be back with Kate and Tom in England. This is a fantastic mystery with plenty of twisty threads for Kate to follow before she resolves things. I had a part or two figured out, but most of it didn’t come together for me until Kate had figured it out. Then I couldn’t believe I had missed it. The characters are strong. Kate is a little older than a traditional protagonist, something that I enjoy. I quickly got reacquainted with the returning characters and enjoyed getting to know the suspects, who were strong enough to make me care about the outcome. This book will please Kate’s fans and should bring her some new ones.

There are few films that focus on a single character trapped by outside circumstances, not of their making. The few I can think of are all good in their own right, but I'm not sure they were as captivating as Oxygen, I hope this film is forever added to the top of those lists discussing such films.
I figured out a couple of things early on (that's just the way my brain works unfortunately 🤷🏼♀️) but it in no way lessened my enjoyment of the film. I was genuinely intrigued as to how the whole thing would play out, and there were some big surprises still.
Mélanie Laurent is fantastic, some of the scenes could have been really overplayed and dramatic, but I think she was perfect; to carry a whole film being the only actor on screen is nothing short of phenomenonal, her performance had me gripped to the final shots.
The film almost runs in real time, so if you are looking for something fast paced with lots of action or drama, then maybe move along, but if you are looking for something with the feel of a thriller that has its twists and turns, where you figure things out equally as the character does then this is more for you.
Would highly recommend as a must watch whatever you are into!

Great idea, just not well executed
The idea behind this book and the base plot is a really great idea. An alternate 80s Britain thats more technologically advanced than we are currently in 2020 is a fascinating idea and I really enjoyed the parts of the book that detailed all the differences - some of which (like Apan Turing still being alive) were actually rather emotive and almost made you wish real life had been like this.
Adam too is a fascinating character and any part of the book that featured him was a winner. The problem with this book is the two main characters Charlie and Miranda. They are completely unlikeable and self absorbed, and the way they treat Adam (and Mark in some respects) is absolutely awful. There's something Alan Turing says towards the end of the book that really sums up how much of a horrible person Charlie is. Whilst having unlikeable characters isn't necessarily a bad thing for some books, in this I just found them rather irritating and annoying. And Charlie's constant internal rambling monologuing got rather boring and really dragged on.
I really wanted to love this because the general idea is fantastic, and there are parts of this where I did love it. It's just a same it was let down by the characters.

Honestly, this is the first graphic novel I've properly read so I don't have anything to compare it to. So this review may not be that helpful, and I'm just going to keep it quite short.
I'm not going to lie, I found this pretty confusing. It was a bit all over the place - but I've heard it gets better. It starts at the military academy with Teito Klein and Mikage, who are best friends. But then Teito's repressed memories are jogged when he overhears a secret conversation, forcing him to flee the district. From there, he finds himself in a strange church. The bishops there begin to help him understand the war between two empires, the legend of seven ghosts, and the battle between good and evil.
The art in this is fantastic! Sometimes it seems a little busy and hard to follow, but maybe that's just because I'm new to it.
The dialogue is great - the jokes and everything really make this a good novel. And the premise is good, too - I intend to read on and hopefully make sense of it all!
I did like it, but I also got lost a fair bit. It was a lot better toward to end, with Mikage's surprise appearance and all, but I think I can only give this 3 stars.

Paddington has spotted the best birthday present for his Aunt Lucy, but it's a lot more money than the 50p Mrs Bird pulled out of his ear that morning. He knows what to do though, he must get a job (or several) and earn the money to buy the wonderful pop-up book of London from the antiques shop. His plans aren't going to well though, and when he spies a burglar breaking in to the upstairs window of the shop things take an even worse turn.
I still haven't seen Paddington 1 yet, I know, shame on me. But after one of my Unlimited buddies saying they'd seen it three times already it convinced me that I should go and see it too.
He's not the original Paddington that I know and love, but he's still kind of adorable, I guess.
There's a fantastic cast of people, and personally, Brendan Gleeson as Knuckles is my favourite. From terrifying chef to terrified of a bear's glare... genius. The only character that I wasn't keen on was Hugh Grant's Phoenix Buchanan.
The beginning felt a little drawn out, but once the action started I was carried away with the whole tale. A really enjoyable watch and definitely one that I'd sit down to see when I see it on the TV listings.

It's AMORE!
Holy moly! Teagan Hunter has done it again! She has managed to have me LOLing all over the place, gaining crazy stares from my family, and a few strangers! I absolutely loved the sass and wit she put into the characters.
Wren and Foster. Foster and Wren. Anyway you look at it, they are meant to be together! The sparks flew between them instantly and I held on for dear life, watching them together. I loved the way Foster had to work to show Wren she was more than just his best friend's kid sister. When the realization finally hit.....well, let's just say it was a hot slice of pizza for this reader!
Do I recommend this book? Abso-friggin-lutely. Do I want to keep it forever? Abso-friggin-lutely. Do I recommend eating it with pizza? No. If you do, you may choke from laughing often! With a beautiful heroine and a hot, sexy Hero that will melt your socks off, this is a 5 star worthy start to a fantastic new series from who I dubbed the Queen of RomCon. Well done, Hunter. Well done. Bring on the next!

Interesting but not scary
A Puritan family lives by themselves off the land to farm, raise their children and suffer through their lives barely scraping by. The perception of evil forces slowly overruns the family and they start to point fingers at each other as for who is to blame.
Short review today, but I had not heard much about this until a friend recommended. I enjoyed more than I thought I would for a film with a slow start. It seems I like slow burn movies ore than most. I can stay with a film if it seems interesting or I feel like it is going somewhere and will have a decent climax.
I did not think the film was scary at all with not even any jump scares, but the characters were interesting and the family dynamics were extreme especially once there is doubt and paranoia about what is happening to them.
Since I am an American, I did find some of the dialect hard to comprehend at times so much so that I actually turned the Netflix subtitles on to make sure I didn't miss anything.
It's not like it's a fantastic film that will stay with me or anything; however, I feel it is unique and interesting and well worth 95 minutes of your life.

Horror TV doesn't get much better
The second season on AHS, also known as 'Asylum' is fantastic, and in my opinion, still the best season to date.
The anthology template applied to AHS is given it first workout here - it's great to see familiar faces from the first season, albeit playing completely different characters. And the characters here are really something.
Sarah Paulson, Zachary Quinto, Joseph Fiennes, Evan Peters, Lizzie Brocheré, James Cromwell, Lily Rabe - they're all amazing in their own ways. Each character has several layers to them,lacing mystery and intrigue throughout Asylum to keep you guessing.
The unmistakable star of Asylum though is of course Jessica Lange.
Here character Sister Jude is an incredible villain for the most part, and equally sympathetic in other parts. Jessica Lange plays the part with aplomb, obviously enjoying every second of it, and is the main reason why this season is such a stand out.
The tone of Asylum is a lot more full on than Murder House - it's nastier, gorier, funnier, darker.
The cinematography is pretty bang on throughout, spoiling us with creepy shot after creepy shot.
It's honestly great, hard to find much to dislike. The hammier elements in AHS are often overdone and what ultimately stop this show from reaching perfection, but Asylum is as close as it has come for now.
