Anyone else belong to a bookclub? We have our next meeting on Monday and, as we are a wine-and-dine bookclub, we've going for a curry! Sometimes difficult to think up books to nominate that aren't too long, that people won't hate and will generate some good discussions. I think our favourite so far is probably Rebecca. We allow anyone at the meeting to nominate a book and then it goes to a vote - how do others work theirs? And of course do you have any books that really worked well for bookclub discussion?

I just joined a bookclub last month and so far really enjoy it. Anyone can nominate a book and then we all vote (2 votes each). A book stays on the nomination list for a few months and if it isn't picked it's dropped. We read Station 11 and that got a lot of discussion. Some people loved it (I fell into this camp), others were so so and a few didn't like it at all.

I won this ARC from a Goodreads Giveaway and had been looking forward to reading it. However, I was pretty disappointed with this book, with all the great buzz that had been created so far. I would give it 2.5 out of 5 stars. For all the drama I felt like it really lacked excitement until the last three chapters and it still was wrapped up extremely quickly once you reached the part that was a real page turner. I did enjoy the chapter switch from each character narrative.

My favourite
This is by far my favourite of the Harry potter books. Different from the others because of the time turner.
Harry, Ron and Hermione start their third year at Hogwarts and as usual end up in trouble and an adventure. Not only has it got all the amazing things that make every Harry potter book great but with the addition of buckbeak, the new classes, the dementors and other amazing creatures. It is a book that I can read over and over again and still enjoy.

Roadkill (Cal Leandros, #5)

Fifth book in the Cal Leandros series, and Rob Thurman appears to have learnt her lesson from the disappointing "Deathwish".

Again, the narrative is told in the first person but (thankfully) this time, Rob Thurman does not take it chapter about to have different characters speaking. Whereas "Deathwish" had it brother about per chapter (who 'sounded' far too alike), "Roadkill" only has Cal Leandros narrating, with his sections 'book-ended' by a chapter told by a completely different character, complete with their own distinctive voice.

This is a return to form!

An amazing adaptation
This book is by far one of my favourite books by Jojo Moyes. It is such a stunning story and I was amazed at the character development made to Louisa from the first book. After the death of Will in book one it was a struggle for Luisa, and her romance progression in book two. It was lovely to see her revolve a 360 to her back to working with a wealthy family. Overall, amazing!

Moana (2016)
Moana (2016)
2016 | Adventure, Animation, Comedy
As well as horror I also love Disney movies.
Moana involves one impulse driven chieftains daughter trying to defeat a curse brought about by the Demi God Maui when he removed something he shouldn't have. It's Moana's role to get Maui and restore what he took.
For Disney the songs are as always catchy and Moana's song How Far I'll Go is so uplifting and inspirational, Maui's song Your Welcome shows that The Rock can sing, villan Tamanota also gets Shiny.
Animation is great, voice cast is excellent.
The chicken is amazing.

A Pleasant Surprise!
This film is an excellent adaptation of Stephen King's classic horror novel. As most know, this is not the first adaptation, but certainly the better of the two so far (hopefully Chapter Two will do the same).

While we all loved Tim Curry's portrayal of Pennywise the Clown, the original TV movie lacked depth and had several irritating plot holes. Splitting the story into two parts was an excellent choice, and has given moviegoers the chance to experience all IT has to offer.

I'd honestly forgotten how good this one is!
Hi Fergie!
So, it deals with fear on two different levels. The fear of abandonment. Grandma has a brain tumor and his dad's plane is shot down.
And fear of the supernatural. An evil person with a magic box that can turn people into mummies.
Johnny's determination to find the will and the way he goes about it is one of my favorite things. Because he's far from perfect but even with the mistakes he makes, Johnny is a good bean.

Good one
This thriller delivered. Another example of a movie done well even without a big budget. Donald Sutherland, as always, delivered a fine performance as did the other actors. The cinematography was ok. The storyline was unique and intense with plenty of turns throughout. Some parts were predictable but it didn't take away from the intensity at all. This movie poses many questions about the people and the justice system and how both are far from perfect. If you enjoy crime thrillers you'll enjoy this one. Worth a watch!

By far the most divisive of the Star Wars movies, this is one of those films that I tend to enjoy while watching, but later come away with a whole host of problems. Such as:

How can Rey be so powerful with no training?
What, Princess (or General) Leia doing Peter Pan in space (may not have been so bad if there had been any indication she knew/was trained in how to use the Force)
The world slowest Lightspeed chase
What is the point of the Canto Bight excursion?

and, not forgetting,
