Jojo Rabbit- alot of people told me that their liked this movie. From the trailer it looked reallly good. So when i watched it yesterday, i didnt love it, i liked it kinda. Let me explain...
The subject of Nazis and Hitler is a touchy one to say the least, but it's also a subject that is ripe for satire, and one of the many aspects that stands out here, is how Taika Waititi has managed to craft a film that is absolutely hilarious, but never undermines how horrible this part of history was. So the fact that Taika made Hitler funny was kinda weird, strange and also didnt feel right. But at the same time Taika did a excellent job playing Hitler. Its just strange and out of chacter to see hitler funny. Other than that the movie is good.
The plot: Jojo is a lonely German boy who discovers that his single mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic. Aided only by his imaginary friend -- Adolf Hitler -- Jojo must confront his blind nationalism as World War II continues to rage on.
The cast is good, the plot is good, like i said its just strange, wired, out of charcter to see hitler funny. The film never shows the darkside of WWII. So thats good. Jojo Rabbit is a good dark comedy film.

Great graphics (2 more)
Variety of levels and enemies
Very funny!
A bloody good shooter!
An excellent light gun game for the Wii. One of the best I've played on any console and definitely the most fun. The best House of the Dead game for me, this was the first game that really sold the light gun gaming on the Wii.
The graphics are very good, it's quite a big game compared to other gun games. Some levels could take a good 15-20 minutes to complete. The music is groovy, there are plenty of guns to use. There is plenty of replay value with mini-games, various achievements to go for.
The thing that stands out the most is the humour. The whole feel is a tongue in cheek '70's grindhouse, Horror B Movie vibe. It works, the voice acting is good and it will probably make you laugh.
Overall it is a little easy on the normal levels but it's so enjoyable. If you like Horror films and light gun games you'll love this.

Awix (3310 KP) rated Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) in Movies

Approximately sixty-seventh Marvel Studios project to date starts off as a pretty good king fu movie, as parking attendant Simu Liu is forced to come clean to his best friend that he is in fact the renegade son of an immortal warlord, before turning into a not quite so good fantasy movie (immortal warlord wants to invade a magic kingdom, which may inadvertently cause the end of the universe).
Good martial arts choreography, but the non-stop CGI of the climax isn't nearly as interesting or fun to watch, and the movie seems to lose its edge and sense of humour as it goes on. Feels very much like an attempt to do something akin to Black Panther, but with Chinese culture; may well do very good business in Asian markets. The usual links and references to other Marvel movies are a mixed bag; some of them feel very contrived and gratuitous. Still, they're integral to the Marvel project and I doubt this movie will disappoint the faithful.

A disturbing, distressing look at ecological disaster.
This is such a good book, but also deeply disturbing. Set during an environmental disaster, initially set in London, then Scotland in a refugee camp.
The way it's written reflects the shock and despair of the main character - sparse and disjointed. Time moves in a strange way (which will be interesting to see how this will be handled if it makes it to the big screen).
This is well worth a read, but make sure you're mentally in a good place first! The whole book made me feel uncomfortable, and there is no happy ending. Call me odd, but that's the kind of book that I really enjoy!

This is a very simple yet effective book to read. I wouldn't say that it necessarily inspired me, but it made me more aware. Of myself and of others around me. I like that this book is not preachy and is not do what I and things will get better. It lays down Queen Latifah's life and what obstacles she came up against and how she made it over those hurdles. Everyone's experience isn't going to be like hers but we can all relate on some level. I would recommend this book to young girls and young women. It is a good book to make you feel good about being a woman and being yourself.

Good but just as frustrating as the original
I love/hate paladins. I find it hugely frustrating or very satisfying depending which way the games go. Paladins Strike, on android? Cool! First few games were good then it all started going downhill. It might be me but I found it hard to control. I've played other games with the same set up, but this just doesn't work that well. Skill choices that you buy with credits, pop up on the screen while you are playing. Thats distracting. It could be quite fun but the lack of control makes it a dud for me.

Surprising
I was pleasantly surprised by this one. The acting was good with interesting characters. The cinematography, imagery, effects were all very well done. The story unfolded ok but had a lot of very predictable parts. This was a "Steam Punk" future world with a lot of cool stuff in it but had just a bit of a "Star Wars-esque" feel to it. Not in a bad way, though. But the story, simplified, was that someone opened Pandora's box and the heroes had to shut it down. Anyway, if you enjoy a good sci-fi/action/adventure tale with just a smidge of love story thrown in, you'll really enjoy this movie. Worth a watch!

Dean (6927 KP) rated The Adjustment Bureau (2011) in Movies
Feb 10, 2018
This was a good entertaining film, with some great actors, cool SFX and a decent story. However personally I feel the comparisons of Bourne Identity crossed with Inception is very misleading. If anything this is a romantic film with a bit of Sci-Fi and witty dialogue thrown in. The SFX towards the end is a tiny bit similar to Inception and other than Matt Damon starring and being on the run that's all it has in common with the Bourne Identity. If anything it reminded more of Serendipity, a film about fate, chance and destiny when it comes to love. Still a very good film to watch but it's not all out action or a thriller.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010) in Movies

A good film, well made and with good actors. I've not read the books to be honest but have seen all the films. This one does really feel like half a film....all slow pace, moody and brooding for what is too come in the finale. It is dark and menacing and a lot more grown up than the other films, some will prefer this others won't. For me this was just average, I prefer the action, Hogwarts, the humour and creatures of the other films. This is largely the 3 main characters on the run and hiding with very little action. Let's hope the final film doesn't lose the Potter magic!
