Dean (6927 KP) rated Werewolves Within (2021) in Movies

Not that funny (1 more)
Not much werewolf
Odd comedy Horror
Slightly odd comedy Horror based on a video game. More of a whodunit twist of who the killer or werewolf is. Plenty of oddball characters. Mildly amusing in places but some of the characters were just annoying with OTT acting. Not much of a werewolf as well, so a bit disappointing.

A classic Horror
This is talked about as one of the best horror films ever made and a timeless classic. It is very good, it has some truly memorable scenes that are still pretty far out 35 years after it was made!!! It has some nice effects to, no CGI here and the creature in its forms looks great. Set in a great location for a horror, a strong cast, good director this can't fail to impress. If you've not seen it yet put it to the top of your want to see list.

Combines the genres of fantasy and horror for a unique read
Story is told from the point of view of several characters
A Decent Introduction to Amy Cross
This was the book that got me into Amy Cross, despite not being a fan of horror in general. Since reading this, I now have over a dozen of her books. She made a unique combination of the fantasy and horror genres with this book. One of her stranger books, but a good read over all.

I loved how this was horror and still had some dark humor to it. The characters and plot were amazing.. I love horror but it's always hard to find a really well written horror story and this one was definently well written. I loved that it kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen and I felt like I had to keep reading until it was finished. I am very glad the author chose me to read this and I cannot wait to read more by this author. Amazing

Lilyn G - Sci-Fi & Scary (91 KP) rated Netflix in Apps

Less than Impressed
Let’s face it, Netflix needs some work. It’s ability to give you new content to watch kind of sucks, because it assumes that if you watch horror movies ALL you want to watch is horror movies. When are we ever going to get something like “Break out of your comfort zone, and try:”? Instead, even when I’m looking at thrillers, THE SAME HORROR MOVIES POP UP. I get ridiculously irritated with Netflix, and often get rid of it for months at a time until I know they’ve got a few movies on there worth watching.

The Craggus (360 KP) rated Overlord (2018) in Movies

Formulaic WW2 action horror Overlord (2018) is Nazi movie you may be expecting. #Review
Much less of an out-and-out horror film than the trailers would suggest, “Overlord” is, in fact, a brutal and tense World War II action adventure which belatedly takes a horror turn in its final act.
As stylish as it is, it doesn’t stray very far from the ‘big book of war movie tropes’ as rewritten by Spielberg’s “Saving Private Ryan” and much of its sound and fury war-is-Hell big moments have already appeared in the marketing...

LeftSideCut (3776 KP) rated Child's Play (1988) in Movies
Jun 24, 2019
A pinnacle of absurd 80's horror
The original Child's Play is a hugely enjoyable slice of 80s horror. It's so silly, that it easy to see how the movie, and it's villain Chucky, have earned their place amongst horror royalty.
The low budget is stepped around pretty effectively, with lots of first person shots from Chucky's perspective, building up to the inevitable reveal, where we properly see Chucky in all his glory, swearing and stabbing his way through the rest of the movie.
It's over the top, silly, violent, and the acting throughout is pretty hammy, but it all works pretty well.
