Joe Dante recommended Rosemary's Baby (1968) in Movies (curated)

"You know, I’d have to give a shout out to Rosemary’s Baby, which is not only a great horror film, but probably the most faithful adaptation of a book that I’ve ever seen on screen. The realistic ambience of New York in the ’60s is so palpable that it makes all of the horror tropes seem much more believable. We have a heroine we can identify with, and are the people around her all witches, or is she imagining it? Once again, there’s always a psychological component to a really good horror film. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a film better directed than Rosemary’s Baby."

Funny Horror
An ok Horror with a comedy slant. Featuring a nice cameo from Robert Englund. A bunch of serial killers escape an asylum to take over a Horror park based on their murders.
It's funny in places and the gore generally is OK, although very cheap looking in some scenes. Just a bit hit and miss with the comedy and scares a lot of the time. Often somewhere in the middle of not funny or scary enough.
Check out @Hell Fest (2018) on Netflix, similar but slightly better I felt with a cameo from Tony Todd.

Growing Darkness
Gwen- is a really good period folk horror drama that has elements of gothic, supernatural and psycholoigcal horror. Eleanor Worthington Fox and Maxine Peake are really good in this film.

The plot: Desperately trying to hold everything together, young Gwen struggles with her mother's mysterious illness, her father's absence and a ruthless mining company that's encroaching on their land. As a growing darkness begins to take grip, the local community grows suspicious and slowly turns on the beleaguered family.

Its a slow pace film but it does get intresting, intense, supernatural, gothic and psychological overtime. Its a good horror film.

Betrayal is a must-have for any tabletop enthusiast, especially horror fans. With 50+ haunts, it'll be quite a while before you're bored. Spend the first half of the game on the same side, exploring a creepy mansion. But beware, once the haunt starts, the dynamic dramatically shifts, often putting 3 against 1. It'll feel just like you're in a horror movie!

Back in 2017, a brilliant movie called Happy Death Day was released and it was a brilliant take on Groundhog Day with a horror twist, now director Christopher Landon brings is a twist on Freaky Friday with the comedy/horror Freaky starring Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton.

Director Christopher Landon has brought us another fun movie to watch, I love the twist on the Freak Friday idea and both writers Landon and Michale Kennedy have really taken an old idea and given it a new twist and freshness that makes this one of the best comedy/horror films that I’ve seen this year, so far.

Commentary horror can be really good if the balance is right. This entry in the series was enjoyable and I felt was really close to that balance.
