Laura Doe (1350 KP) rated My Mess Is A Bit Of A Life in Books

I didn’t know what to expect of this book with it being a book about someone’s journey with anxiety, but I definitely didn’t think it would be as funny as it is.
Georgia Pritchett writes little anxious anecdotes from her life beginning in nursery. They are all written with Georgia’s humour prominent throughout the book, even the heartbreaking anecdotes still have some humour sprinkled into them. Reading through them, some are completely relatable and others not so much, but all completely believable.
The chapters are extremely short, some only a paragraph or two long. And while it might annoy some people, I loved this style as it showed that we were onto the next little anecdote and was quite easy to follow. But for me, with the chapters being short it just meant that I wanted to carry on reading… “just one more chapter” turned into the whole book!
I read this in an afternoon because it was such an easy and pleasant read (despite the subjects touched upon not being pleasant) and it was nice to read about the life that Georgia has had and the accomplishments despite her being a woman in a man’s world.
I will be recommending this to anyone that will listen, and will probably pick it up again at some point in the near future.
Thank you to Pigeonhole and Georgia Pritchett for the chance to read this page turner!

Gideon Graves was a fantastic villain
The soundtrack was exceptional. A real highlight of the film.
The Gaming references were spot on
On-screen graphics made the film feel like an Augmented reality experience
Special effects were very good
Edgar Wright as director is always a positive
Overall, the casting was fantastic, with some big names showing up
The film unfortunately left out a number of 'Vital' scenes from the source material (1 more)
Some of the humour just didn't work as intended

Total Mayhem
Remember when this series was a GTA clone, telling a semi series crime story? Some people say that Saints Row has jumped the shark at this point, but I still have fun with these games. If you are looking for a deeper, more serious open world crime game, then you can go play GTA or Mafia, but if you want mindless fun and crass humour and plenty of random violence, then you should pick this one up. It's essentially more of Saints Row 3, but with added superpowers and aliens. It also works as a satirical parody on modern video games and pokes fun at its peers with a wink and a nod.

Nothing special
I was expecting this film to be a bit of silly fun, but it wasn't quite as light hearted and entertaining as I'd hoped. Reynolds and Jackson make a great double act, with Jackson playing his usual character and Reynolds doing his great funny man act. Some of the humour was good although i think some fell a little flat. The action was good, even if some of the effects were a little dodgy looking. My main issue is that the film was more serious than I'd expected and I really didn't like the soppy romance element of the plot. Sometimes it's entertaining just to watch a bonkers action film.

Several potential plot holes (1 more)
One bad error
End of the era
So to date I have seen this six times, pretty much done the cinema checklist, bring seen it in 2D, 3D,4DX and IMAX. It still never fails to get the emotions running at one scene for me.
It's it perfect? No, there are potential plot holes, and one very noticeable continuity error, however given for a film running 3 hours, you don't notice it pass at all.
I maybe bits as I have been a comic book geek for too many years, and even a bad Marvel movie is still pretty good, this though, a whole new level

It wants to be the very best, like no video game movie ever was. To watch it is the real test, to review it is my cause! Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019) #Review
The story is decent enough and although its main twists and turns are predictable enough, it still has a surprise or two up its sleeve and the whole thing is just a bundle of fun. The real delight, of course, is in spotting all your favourite Pokémon in the background, populating the neon-drenched yet conspicuously London-like streets of Ryme City and there’s plenty of humour mined from the various quirks and abilities of various Pokémon....

Three shorts taped together
When an animated film does well, there is usually a follow-on of some short films, or a TV series. I mean like the Shrek Halloween shorts, or the Boss Baby series on Netflix.
I think this is what was planned here - three short films for distribution some how, but they weren't sure what to do with them. So they seem to have decided to stitch them together and pad them out into a film.
The film as a whole is enjoyable but jumps around all over the place. Each of the stories in isolation are very enjoyable, with enough humour and charm to keep the audience entertained.

A good film, well made and with good actors. I've not read the books to be honest but have seen all the films. This one does really feel like half a film....all slow pace, moody and brooding for what is too come in the finale. It is dark and menacing and a lot more grown up than the other films, some will prefer this others won't. For me this was just average, I prefer the action, Hogwarts, the humour and creatures of the other films. This is largely the 3 main characters on the run and hiding with very little action. Let's hope the final film doesn't lose the Potter magic!

I was pleasantly surprised by this. I had a feeling it was aimed at a young audience but actually it's pretty good for the whole family. There are great effects scenes with some of the Greek mythology creatures doing battle with the demi gods. It felt like Clash of the Titans but set in modern day America, crossed with National Treasure. It has a great cast, although some have very short screen time. It whizzed by at a good pace, with plenty of action, cheesey humour and some decent action effects. I wouldn't call it a Potter or Narnia clone but if you like those sort of adventure films you can't go wrong with this!
