Mental illness is no joke and I felt this made a bit of a mockery of it. The concept while interesting was poorly executed and everyone was blamed for her mental illness. It honestly triggered so many of us who do suffer or have dealt with people who suffer. I cant put into words how much was wrong with it.

"Great characters. A hilarious, biting satire of the British justice system. Jarndyce vs. Jarndyce! Miss Flite and her birds! And for illness buffs, there’s smallpox!"

"She touches me like no other poet. Pretty rare that mental illness does help a writer, but for her, it was inseparable from her greatness."

Great depiction of mental illness that feels like the same universe as Taxi Driver takes place in. (0 more)
The awkwardness of the dancing Joker is a bit heavyhanded. (0 more)

I loved this book. I just wanted to keep reading! fasted time I have ever read a book. It was such an emotional ride reading this and really helps the reader understand what it could be like to live with or know someone with a mental illness. So beautifully done.

"Brutal but never felt exploitative. Restrained where it needed to be. A realistic depiction of mental illness and inner turmoil and with one of the best soundtracks of the year."

I empathize with Ned as I now have the shingles real bad myself. Sorry I have not been on much lately. Trying to survive my illness.

"The book is so good at showing the grinding wheel of mental illness. And the writing is so good. She doesn’t turn somersaults in a sentence. She does her job and you’re just devastated."
