I feel this could be an instant cult favourite.
Prepare yourself Film Fans, for what could be the best British road trip comedy you will have seen in a long time. A bold statement I know however this Low budget Brit comedy punches way above its weight in almost every aspect and lands an absolute knockout for its viewers.

Often movies like this can just seem like a series of randomly put together scenarios and yes this movie could easily run the risk of being overly silly but I felt like through some spot-on casting, a great script and masterful directing on the part of Alberto Sciamma this movie expertly avoids becoming one of those movies.

Tommy French as Ron is somewhat of a revelation, I will hold my hands up and say that I personally don't think I have seen this actor before and didn't really expect too much but boy did he impress me, the comedic delivery of a lot of his dialogue is superb and I found him completely believable as a sort of fish out of water put upon son who has just about had enough but would still do just about anything for his mum... Including an epic Karaoke jam. Of course French does have a superb Co-star to bounce off in Kierston Wareing who just nails this role, absolutely nails it. At first I was a little put off by the character but 8-10 minutes into the movie I fell in love with Olga and that love only grew. French and Wareing are a match made in heaven.

Wow! Just wow! Talk about a cliffhanger. As I said when I read Outlander, I am by no means a fan of the "romance" novel. That's why I waited so long to dive into the series. But let me tell you, these books are so much more than that. Just like the first installment DiA has its typical romance novel elements but it has much, much more than that too. This book delves much deeper into the history of the time period that Clare falls in to. It took me awhile to really get hooked on this book, but I did. Gabaldon is a wonderful storyteller! She writes with so much detail & passion, not to mention what must be a HUGE amount of painstaking research. I am very much looking forward to reading the next book. Hopefully it won't be as far between the 2nd & 3rd as it was between the 1st & 2nd!!

RəX Regent (349 KP) rated JFK (1991) in Movies

JFK (1991)
JFK (1991)
1991 | Drama, History, Thriller
A gripping and highly complex drama/thriller based around the true and supposed events surrounding the assassination of JFK. This film passionately presents in argument that he was assassinated by members of his own government, and whist on paper Oliver Stone is saying such, the film spins a complex web of theories and conclusions that suggest and dismiss and reignite themselves, leaving a whole host of culprits.

But second shooter, Bell Helicopter, or Johnson’s coup or not, this film demonstrates the power politics meeting celluloid, dazzling its audience with such a plausible argument, and presenting it with such zeal that by the time you take a breath, you’re not sure what to believe, and often opt for the easy choice, taking on board the smoke and mirrors.

But when all is said and done, this is just a movie, and like the books it is based upon, not fact, just theory. But as a film, this is powerful and persuasive stuff…

I've seen this book get raved about online, but it just didn't sound that exceptional - yet another young adult romance. Contemporary, at that. But I finally read it for the Year of the Asian Challenge, and I am SO. GLAD. I DID.

Rishi Patel stole my heart. Which, as a demisexual, is completely unexpected. But he's just the exact right combination of sweet, romantic, totally geeky, and confident. He is absolutely my favorite character in this book. I like Dimple. But I adore Rishi.

I loved that both Dimple and Rishi tried to help each other achieve their dreams. I wish they'd both been a little more communicative about how they did so, but it was still cute to see them so invested in each other's life goals, as a couple should be!

This is a super cute romance, and it deserves all the rave reviews it got. I definitely need to read the sequel (about Rishi's younger brother) now.

This was a very sad and true tale about the disappearances of women in the North Eastern coast of America. If you know me, you will know I love true crime stories. I don't know why, I just find them so interesting and compelling. That being said, this one was incredibly sad. These women who were abducted, killed, and buried without any feeling for their lives or their families lives is heinous and callous. The fact that these women's killer still has yet to be found is just as horrifying. I am definitely planning on looking into these murders more, not really to see if I can help, because I don't think I can. But I would like to see if there is more information that can be gathered on it.

To the friends and families involved, I hope you are able to find peace in knowing your childrens' stories are getting out into the world. Thank you for sharing their stories.

Do you get turned on after being in a car crash?

The people in this movie do and it pretty messed up. I love David Cronenberg and all his body horror films and also the deeply provocative and sometimes controversial subject matter in his films; however, this one seemed just a bit too random and out there for me.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a great steamy sex scene in a film as much as anyone, but this movie seemed like a never-ending stretch of handjobs and random nastiness for no reason whatsoever.

The characters were not even that interesting in that all they wanted to do was grope, suck and fuck each other just for the turn on of being around a crashed car and that didn't really make any sense.

Do yourself a favor and watch Naked Lunch or Videodrome instead.

I made it through 1 hour of this films 3 hour running time before I completely lost the will to live and just had to turn it off and I consider even that an achievement! . The film consists of 6 separate stories set at various different points in time that it jumps between consisting of the same cast in various different dodgy make up and wigs, none of the stories make much sense or hold any interest for the viewer. The basic gist is these are reincarnated souls at different points in time and the influence they have had on each others lives. Yes it sounds like an interesting and ambitious idea but the execution of it was just terrible, the film is pretentious and baffling , there’s a good cast who are wasted (even Tom Hanks was bad!) and the film holds no entertainment value whatsoever. Nearly as bad(at least this looks pretty) as ‘Cosmopolis’ and that is really saying something!.

I feel like I, along with most of my friends, have reached that age where adulthood has became far too real. Sadly, we get caught up in daily routines of work, relationships, and such. Not that our lives aren't great, just not in the moment and as spontaneous as we used to be. This is a great little movie about such a couple who befriends a younger, more hip couple that reminds them of their younger selves. Are their current friends right in thinking they are crazy and going through a midlife crisis or is this young, hipster couple the best thing to walk into their lives? Guess you'll just have to watch it and find out. Maybe afterwards you'll dust off some of your VHS's and see if remember how to rewind or break out your old vinyl collection for a spin. For God's sake, avoid fedoras and skinny jeans though.

Weirdly, I'm torn with this book.

It pulled me in from early on but some of the shit these kids--15 years old!--were doing was very off-putting. They acted a lot older and whether they were entitled little shits or not, I didn't agree with a lot of it or understand how they managed to pull it off; for example Zayd's tattoed body. 15, and pretty much covered in tats? Is that even legal?

As for the Idols, I was genuinely thinking they were starting to like her. And then Miranda and Andrew's question at the beginning of that chapter towards the end had me wondering what could go wrong for that scene in the Prologue to pan out and then I was just fuming for Marnye.

I now want to read book 2 just so I can see Marnye stick it to the entitled little "Bluebloods of Burberry Prep". I want to watch them burn!

I read the first book, Collide, last year sometime and it just about killed me at the end. There was one paragraph/speech near the end from Gavin that broke my heart and made me cry buckets and I couldn't wait to read this to find out what happened...

But then I sorta went off NA...

And then I went for it and read it.

I didn't find it as good as the first, though how anyone can resist Gavin Blake *points at Emily* I'll never know. He's funny, sexy, sweet; he's like a woman's fantasy man...and to think Emily tried to pick that d*ck Dillon over Gavin!

I'm happy that they got their HEA, I just kinda lost interest with some parts of the book and found it a little long for what actually happened. Nevertheless this is probably one of my favourite NA series'

If you haven't tried this series yet, you really should!
