Chelsea (449 KP) rated Desperation in Books

Very creepy in more ways than one. There are practical, real life terrors and also some evil and unnatural. There is a healthy dose of religion in this story as well, but as big of a role as it plays, it doesn't get preachy. The story pulls you in right from the beginning and this one does not wait long for the action to begin! He doesn't let this takeaway from the characters either.

Let it ride
The story about 4 kids who grew up in brooklyn who are now old and go to vegas for one of their friends wedding what can go wrong or in this case right. Bobby D, Morgan freeman, Kevin Klein and the great Michael Douglas make up a supreme cast that is fun to watch and hard to hate.

The IMAX version of the film looks and sounds great, Hans Zimmer’s score for the movie is fantastic and sounds superb in the IMAX cinema, but sadly the movie is let down by several things, one being Jessica Chastain’s character, I just found her so one dimensional and didn’t enjoy her screentime, which is a shame as Chastain is a superb actress with the right roles. I would have loved to have seen that Jean and Logan’s chemistry brought in to play, we saw that with the original movies, but with Hugh Jackman being a lot older now, I suppose it may not have looked right, but then again we have seen some amazing CGI in making cast look younger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Peter G. (247 KP) rated A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) in Movies

Monochromatic vampire love story similar at times to Let the right one in, however this is a little more quirky and has some beautiful cinematography.
The cast isn't a long line of the well known and its filmed in Iran in limited locations, but this doesn't detract from its compelling story and amazing turns from the two main cast members.
Vampires need love too I guess and I would highly recommend this story be seen, its touching and surprisingly well told, highly recommended!

Let Her in
Contains spoilers, click to show
Let me in- is a remake of the 2008 swedish film called - let the right one in.
The story is about- Bullied at school, neglected at home and incredibly lonely, 12-year-old Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his tormentors and spends his nights spying on other residents of the apartment complex. His sole friend is Abby, a strange girl who comes out only at nighttime. Both outcasts, the two form a strong bond. When Abby's caretaker disappears amid a series of gruesome murders, Owen begins to suspect that she is hiding a terrible secret.
The cast was really good, chloe grace mortz, kodi smit-mcphee, richard jenkins and dylan minnette were all really great.
Matt reeves who directed "cloverfield", 2 years before directed this film. He went on to direct "dawn and war of the planet of the apes" and hes going to direct the upcoming "the batman" film in 2021.
Overall "let me in", is scary, haunted, sad, romantic and overall very good.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Buried (Alex Hope, #2) in Books
Apr 1, 2018
The way Estelliam writes just hooks you and will not let go. This is the second Alex Hope book and it was even better than the first, which was pretty amazing. Some authors struggle to mix romance with the suspense/mystery but Estelliam gets just the right mix so that one aspect doesn't over ride the other. The charcters are well developed and keep growing as the books progress. The setting is almost a character in itself because it plays a vital part in the story.

BobbiesDustyPages (1259 KP) rated Breaking Bad in TV

As addictive as a drug
Breaking Bad is one of those shows that from the first episode I was pulled right in and up until the last episode, it never let me go. The show has some of the realist characters I've ever come across they are all so flawed and damaged and it really pushed this show above the rest.
Also the most messed up part is just how plausible the show really is in the US when it comes to health care.

Yoshi (40 KP) rated Traveling Wilburys, Vol. 1 by The Traveling Wilburys in Music
May 30, 2018
Let me tell you a story: In my old Buick Regal, lovingly dubbed the SS POS, I had no working CD player, only a tape deck. Being sometime after 2012, I only had one decent tape to my name - The Traveling Wilburys Vol 1, and you bet I played the sh*t out of that thing. You will not find a better supergroup out there. Each member is great in their own right, but together they're something awfully special.
