I'm still not sure what I watched. Honestly, I only watched it for Kristen Chenoweth and was sad I had to wait until the finale to find her, but I suppose that alone was worth it. I am very pleasantly surprised by Gillian Anderson's turn as Media, even though it took awhile to understand her character, as it becomes evolved it is a fun take on modern media. I feel like I might have to watch the whole show a few more times to fully grasp what happened, and I do look forward to season 2 to see where things go.

LOVE this series
I have watched 7 episodes of the 10 episodes series.

I feel this series is beautifully written. It makes you want to delete all your social media accounts lol. I feel Penn Badgley is really good for the role as it reminds me of Dan Humphreys in Gossip Girl but a lot darker. It makes you feel what you really do on social media and make you evaluate what you do and make yourself safe.

I will be watching more of this series.

Such an important film, well worth all the awards
"If it takes a community to raise a child, it takes one to abuse them."

Spotlight is such an important part of media history because they uncovered one of the darkest secrets of one community, which mirrors all communities. The film is awe-inspiring, so much so that I wanted to go back into a newsroom and be a TV journalist again at the forefront of major news. This is literally the best film for journalists to watch and for audiences to understand what it's like to work in a newsroom. More importantly, it shows how vital the media can be when actually doing proper investigations.

It is extremely dark given the subject nature - but having been in a similar situation breaking the story of Jimmy Savile in the UK for British media, the film completely reflects my own personal experiences.

This is a short and snappy novella - a quick and enjoyable read. A lot like social media, really - and that’s what it’s all about. I’d heard of catfishing before, but I have to admit that I didn’t really know what the term meant (fyi: “the process of luring someone into a relationship by means of a fictional online persona”).

I would imagine this could be read in one sitting quite quickly (this was a book that The Pigeonhole serialised over five days), because the action is pretty relentless - much like social media, really! I think it holds a mirror up to society’s reliance on social media - usually minus the murder (I hope!) - and how we’re all deeply influenced by it.

There are some deeply unpleasant people in this, but that’s never a bad thing, in my own opinion. It’s an entertaining read, and worth your time!
Thanks to The Pigeonhole for serialising this, and to Kevin Landt for joining in the discussion!

This is a really cool textbook! If you want a more in depth look into broadcasting, or if you're in a broadcast media class, this will help out! Also, to supplement, you can watch the CNN documentaries series: The Sixties, The Seventies, and The Eighties.

3.5/5 stars: I really loved the storyline of this book. It definitely hooked and kept my attention love all the social media aspects they brought into it as well. I was however disappointed in the ending I don't feel like it was thought out.

I was thinking, perhaps we could have an option on our profile to add our Tiktok accounts as one of our social media pages? It's one of the most popular apps these days, and so I'm sure plenty of Smashbombers would appreciate the option :)

"It’s a toss up between Requiem For A Dream or Full Metal Jacket. I love my war films, so I’d say the latter ‘cos it’s like two films in one! I’ve certainly felt like Private Pyle in my life. Especially in the media eye.”"

Movie Favorite

"With no narrator, a Philip Glass score, and dramatic reenactments, there’s a lot of media that tries to imitate The Thin Blue Line, either without knowing the source or without coming close to Errol Morris’s dramatic, funny, and chilling documentary, which redefined the genre."
