"I have that movie where my dad, at a young age, sits you down and is like, “Son, you’re gonna watch this movie.” And you’re like, “Oh, no.” For me, that was Braveheart. That’s definitely an all time favorite. I love Braveheart, I love Mel [Gibson]. I think he’s just an incredible — he’s obviously an amazing actor — but I think he’s also an incredible filmmaker. Braveheart is way up there for me."

Chicken Run (2000)
Chicken Run (2000)
2000 | Action, Animation, Comedy
Aardman Animation's first feature-length production, starring a then-popular Mel Gibson (before he went off the rails quite a bit!) as the voice of an American Rooster who crash-lands in a chicken coop where the inmates are all trying to escape as they all have to lay a certain number of eggs each day or else face the chop.

And yes, it is indeed a - loose - parody of The Great Escape.

Protect Goldie Hawn
Bird on a Wire- is a funny action packed movie. The action is really good, and the chemistey between Mel and Goldie is really good.

The plot: Rick Jarmin (Mel Gibson) is put in witness protection after he helps the FBI bust drug dealer Eugene Sorenson (David Carradine). Fifteen years later, he is living with a new identity as a gas station attendant in Detroit. When an old flame named Marianne (Goldie Hawn) stops at the gas station and recognizes him, his cover gets blown. The recently released Sorenson finds out, and both Jarmin and Marianne have to flee across the country with the vengeful Sorenson in hot pursuit.

Its a funny entertaining movie.

Edge of Darkness (2010)
Edge of Darkness (2010)
2010 | Drama, Mystery, Thriller
The legendary TV mini-series is retooled for the big screen as a bog-standard Mel Gibson revenge thriller. A detective's daughter is killed, and his investigations lead him to discover she was a target of forces within the military-industrial complex operating above the law.

As well as two-thirds of the running time and most of the plot, the movie version of Edge of Darkness also cheerfully dispenses with virtually everything that made the TV show so memorable: theoretically a fiendishly convoluted thriller, it also contained an environmentalist subtext, an incest subtext, a subtext about Anglo-US relations, even some borderline SF & fantasy elements. All of this is gone and just replaced with Mel Gibson looking intense and beating people up. As a result it is very hard to care about what's happening, although the illogicality of much of it does manage to cut through (someone poisoning someone else and then deciding to shoot them as well is practically a motif). Ray Winstone is not bad as Jedburgh, but given the source material the rest of it is unforgivably lousy.

Not terribly creative, but gets the job done
Maybe Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson will be the next Mel Gibson and Danny Glover or Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan!

Entertaining throughout with some witty dialogue and creative action scenes, you could certainly do a lot worse than this action comedy.

The Reynolds-Jackson chemistry is what works best in the film and takes you through some of the dull moments.

I was entertained throughout.

Vivid and brutal
I usually can't stomach war movies or Mel Gibson, but the story of Desmond Doss is an incredible one to behold. Doss is the only conscientious objector during the Second World War to have received America's top military award - the Medal of Honor. His refusal to bear arms gained him notoriety during training, being bullied by his commanding sergeants and fellow soldiers. But at the brutal battle in Hacksaw Ridge against the Japanese, Doss single-handedly went back into a warzone retrieving 75 injured soldiers, at a time when all hope was thought to be lost.

The film itself is in two halves. The first part is a little saccharine, portraying Doss as an innocent doe-eyed boy trailing a beautiful nurse who ends up becoming his wife. At the same time, his father, a tortured military man, is seen as abusive after witnessing horrors in France. Director Mel Gibson tries to connect this relationship to why Doss may not be keen on weapons. Overall, the war scenes are well-shot, extremely graphic to the point it is a completely immersive experience. If Gibson made the first half a little less Hollywood, it would be a skilfully made film. The best part by far is the end where you get to meet the real hero Doss speaking about his experiences. A harrowing watch.

Ok so after seeing the nicely executed movie blood father starring Mel Gibson, I honestly thought this was gonna be another decent movie in his comeback.

Instead what we actually got was a ridiculously Slow, Boring, slightly Violent, Intense in-car talking, Graphic, Forgettable let down.

Also starring vince Vaughn who should seriously stick to terrible comedies (except for Dodgeball) this is a movie that may or may not be about consequences of you actions and so bad you'll ask yourself once again why Gibson won't say yes to lethal weapon 5?

I mean come on, we paid to see die hard 5, we'll pay to see whatever crap that throws at us.....

B-Movie Exloitation Film
Like I said in my Machete review, its so weird and odd to see some of these actors working together, cause you would never think in a million years that some of these people would work together like.. Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Walton Goggins, Lady Gaga, Cuba Gooding Jr., Antoino Banderas and Vanesssa Hudgens. Like would ever thought that all of these actors would work together in a B-Movie Exploitation film called Machete Kills is just strange and somehow it works. I dont how, but it just works.

The plot: When the president (Carlos Estevez) of the United States has a mission that would be impossible for just any mortal man, the person he needs is Machete (Danny Trejo), a knife-wielding ex-Federale agent. Machete's mission is to take down Voz (Mel Gibson), a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has come up with a plot to start a nuclear war. Facing death at every turn from assassins, Machete pulls out all of his skills to get the job done.

If you havent see either of the machete movies go watch them.

Mel Gibson is back to form behind the camera in this War film of epic proportions. Standard is similar to Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, but the second act outdoes Kubrick's with its intensity and full on violence portraying war. And boy once it starts it does not stop until the end.
I've never been a huge War movie fan but I must say I will quite happily revisit this film again at some point
