Third-division Hammer horror - the one with 'Beware the beat of the cloth-wrapped feet' as its advertising slogan, which may be the most memorable thing about it. Has pretty much the same plot as all of these movies (expedition, tomb, curse, murders) with the marginal addition of a rich businessman running everything just asking for a comeuppance.

Some decent direction, an unusually good role for perennial Hammer supporting actor Michael Ripper, and some inventive set pieces, but the general lack of imagination and new ideas means the whole thing drags. None of Hammer's A-team are involved (with the possible exception of Ripper) and you do feel the film is desperately lacking a big star or a genuinely new idea. Sort of passes the time agreeably but probably one for Hammer completists only.

Fast Five (2011)
Fast Five (2011)
2011 | Action, Drama, Mystery
The point at which the Fast and the Furious movies started moving more and more away from their petrol head origins - as exemplified by the cut from pre-race to after race roughly halfway through, instead of showing that actual race - while also the movie that first brings Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to the cast, as Luke Hobbs.

This one picks up directly from the ending of the previous movie, and starts with O'Connor and Mia on the run from the law, ending up in Rio de Janeiro where they get pulled into another 'one last job' (and you know how those always go ...), leading to them reuniting with Dom, assembling a 'crew', and then onto a heist that very much put me in mind of 'The Italian Job'!

This film is one of those movies that motivates you to do whatever you want, in your wildest dreams. Hilary Swank plays Erin Gruwell who is a fighter, a dreamer, relentless, a lover, a great teacher.

This story is incredible. I want to read the book. I want to meet these kids, I want to meet Erin Gruwell, that's how good this film is. It will tug at your heartstrings, it will leave you in awe, it will make you cry (or at least tear up). I loved everything about this film and I want to watch it a million times over. I cannot recommend this film enough. I would scream it from the tallest rooftop if I could, but alas, we're in quarantine so Smashbomb will have to do.

Generally speaking, I'm not really a fan of Zombies (or the undead), in either movies or in games in which they are the main antagonist.

Which is probably why I gave this a miss when it was first released, only picking it up when it was released on PS Plus.

(Yes, I know the Freakers are never called Zombies but, let's face it, that's what they really are).

I have to say that, while slow starting, the story in this open world game was actually quite enjoyable, with Sam Witwer doing a particularly fine job as the protaganist Deacon St John, the former outlaw biker who you play as in this post apocalyptic world.

Freaker horde missions, though? Not a fan.

(I preferred sneaking around, or the occasional gunfight)

The Crow (1994)
The Crow (1994)

I hate this movie.... I hate this movie.... I hate this movie.

Okay I grew up watching The Crow.. Even when I was probably too young to actually watch it, it was one of my dad's favorite movies and he always had it on so I've seen it more times then most and I just can not like it. I even tried rewatching it as an adult thinking maybe I just didn't truelly understand or appreciate it at a younger age and nope I am still not a fan.

I just find the movie so boring and I just don't like or care for any of the charaters in any way.

And the thing is for some reason everyone always thinks I love or would love this movie.

Black Panther (2018)
Black Panther (2018)

The last time we saw Black Panther was in Captain America: Civil War, when we were introduced to the character and now we finally have the character-based movie that brings us more about the new King of Wakanda and his families history, we also get to see Wakanda and it is pretty stunning in RealD 3D.

It seems that Marvel has certainly found the key to making superhero movies that just look so great and Black Panther is no exception to their continued success, the movie looks great, it has a superb cast, the soundtrack is superb and the action is all in the places it needs to be, oh and the 3D is done in such a way that it has depth without any of those in your face moments.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

The best of the best of Spider-Man
The wait to see Spider-Man No Way Home has been a really tough one, not seeing it on the day of release has been a challenge to hide away from the many spoilers that are out there on various social media sites and believe me that being someone that has to spend a lot of time on them for work it’s been one of the hardest films to not spoil, but thankfully I managed to do it and I’m so glad I did.

This is the Spider-Man film I’ve been waiting for over the years, it’s an amazing rollercoaster ride of action and emotions and is certainly at the top of my movies list of best films for 2021.

Scream..... Some more
Ok so scream was rebooted once again in what I can only describe after seeing this one, is not much more than a cash grab sequel that's just DYING to squeeze the life out of the remaining original characters.

Riffing on the original plot, which is constantly brought up in its own poor attempt at being meta by using the fictional movie stab which is based on the original movies events.... (hey you, ya still there? Are you keeping up?) and being used as a terrible guide book if you will...

The only good thing about this movie is the return/inclusion of the original cast...

Honestly, this movie just kinda fell flat quickly and had its moments throughout its run but its nothing to brag about.

Seriously....

Before the review recently I've been rating alot films on Disney plus that wouldn't normally be seen on disney but because they have an adult section called star there's alot of adult movies and TV shows on there case in point once upon a time in America.
The film I've never seen the film till this weekend one thing I can say its long movie with brilliant performances from both woods and de Nero very violent in places which is what u expect from a gangster movie then there's the score by ennio morricone one of the best I've heard there's nothing at all wrong with the film expect the runtime. Anyway coming later in the week both heat and King of comedy still to come

Well, that was .. colourful.

Aquaman, as a character, is one that I'm not really that familiar with, only really coming onto my radar as a result of the 2017 movie Justice League.

Here, Jason Momoa reprises his role from that movie as the titular Arthur Curry aka Aquaman of the title, who finds himself caught in the middle of a brewing war between the Atlanteans and the (unsuspecting) human world.

Far removed from the early (somewhat dour) first movies in DCs Extended Universe - at one stage, an octopus plays a drum (I kid you not) - this is big, bold and colourful, with Arthur on a - literal - quest to recover a trident belonging to the first King of Atlantis that will grant him the powers to avert this war.
