As the mutant with no memory of who he was but with the adamantium skeleton and claws, there's a reason that Wolverine was the character chosen to draw the audience into the world of the X-Men in the 2000 movie of the same name, as well as being a key player in virtually all the X-Men movies to date (skipping, say, 'First Class').

He's also the first - and, to date, only X-Men mutant (I'm not counting Deadpool as belonging to the X-Men) to get his own solo movie in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. A movie that I'm not sure whether was released before or after (or at the same time, even?) as this collection of stories.

But there sure is a lot of similarities in the early portion of that film, and with when this is set and the events that take place within it ...

edit: I've just discovered that this was released first (2001-02), with the movie in 2009. Guess I know now where the early part of the plot came from!

Love this game!
I love this game as you never get bored of it! I love upgrading the Sanctuary and other areas. I like the fact that you can have a kick a** partner. I actually added a Mod and had attack dogs protecting my Sanctuary and safe places, I put a wall around the places for added security, and you can have a Mutant Hound as a pet (he is named Baskerville).

The Mutant Saga Begins
So begins my journey in rewatching the entire X-men series in glorious 4K.

Though it may be 19 years old this movie is still as exhilarating today as it was then, from the special effects to the performances of mckellen and stewart as the leaders of the two different groups of mutants. This film paved the way for so many of the superhero movies we love today (namely the MCU)

Del Toro's intense action-horror-superhero thrash surpasses the original and slips the hospital pass to every subsequent instalment or spin-off. Terrifying mutant vampires appear, preying on the original kind; the vampire establishment is obliged to recruit Blade to help eliminate the new menace. Tensions inevitably ensue between Blade and his new allies...

Top cast includes various cult action stars, but the success of the film is down to the director's ability to give it both energy and atmosphere by the bucketload. Grips and entertains from start to finish; everything you want from this kind of film.

Third entry in the 'new' X-men series (that started with the 60s set First Class, then had the cross-generational Days of Future Pay bringing both sets of X-men into the one film), so probably about sixth overall (or seventh if you included the spin offs), this is set in an alternate 1980s and is actually surprisingly unengaging.

Unlike the time travel shenanigans of the previous film (and the Sentinels), Wolverine only makes a cameo in this while the 'big bad' is actually the worlds first mutant who - in the prologue - gets buried in ancient Egypt.

Unlike the Marvel universe films, however, Quicksilver survives in this!

The popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Franchise has taken a break from the recent live-action updates and has returned to animation to reboot and modernize the franchise.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” is a loving and updated look at the story as Seth Rogen and his creative team have shaken up the franchise but remained true to the core characters and universe.

The film follows the four Turtles Leonardo (Nicolas Cantu), Raphael (Brady Noon), Donatello (Micah Abbey), and Michelangelo (Shamon Brown Jr.), who are looking to find acceptance in the world despite their father Splinter (Jackie Chan), warning them not to trust humans and that they will never be accepted.

As typical teens do, the boys frequently rebel to sneak out and use their Ninja skills to travel New York to do tasks ranging from shopping to watching outdoor movies which only fuels their desires to be accepted and
have normal experiences such as High School.

At the same time as a crimewave is happening attributed to a menace known as Superfly (Ice Cube), who is gathering all kinds of high-end gear for his nefarious scheme.

When the brothers become aware of this while helping a human named April (Ago Edebiri), they become obsessed with her and desire to help her get to the bottom of the thefts and hope to win her approval as well as human acceptance in the process.

What follows is a madcap adventure with plenty of action and humor and
several celebrity voices which adds a new level of fun to the expanded
cast of supporting characters.

The animation style is at times a bit rough to watch over an extended
period but as the film progressed I became used to it and it did much like the two recent Spider-man animated films grow on me even if it can be distracting at times.

The cast is solid and the film seemed to play well to viewers of all ages
as there were jokes and references for all ages and the storyline was engaging even if it did at times seem to drag in places.

In the end the film is a loving and solid entry into the franchise and one that I am sure we will be seeing more animated entries from in the near future and is a must watch for fans of all ages.

Granddaddy of atomic bug movies works incredibly hard to stay credible as a drama; mostly succeeds. Government agents discover giant mutant ants on the rampage; can they contain the threat and keep the secret until the ants can be destroyed? Not quite documentary-style realism, but close enough; hard edged, takes itself impressively seriously.

Notable for featuring some relatively famous faces early in their careers - also for its use of full-scale ant puppets rather than animation or trick photography. Atom-fear angle is underplayed for the most part; this still stands up well as an SF thriller. The climax, with machine guns and flamethrowers battling snapping mandibles and exoskeletal monsters in the sewers under Los Angeles, was surely an influence on Aliens.

Big Hero 6 (2014)

Slightly oddball product of Disney's acquisition of Marvel - this started life as a comic book featuring characters from the X-Men - ends up as a typically witty and accomplished animation. Youthful genius has to form super-team to stop a supervillain from misusing one of his inventions.

Now, obviously if you're a purist, you can find things to complain about here - no mutant powers, no Silver Samurai, the whole thing is set in a science-fantasy future - but for everyone else this is an engaging, well-told story that comes close to matching The Incredibles when it comes to evoking the thrill and invention of classic superhero stories. Witty and imaginative; looks gorgeous; thoroughly enjoyable (though you have to wait until after the credits for the obligatory Stan Lee cameo).
