Song of the Huntress was a really enjoyable listen, narrated well by Kristin Atherton. It felt like I was in 60AD with them: the descriptions of the land, the court, the battles and the Wild Hunt; the inner thoughts and motivations of Herla, Queen Æthelburg of Wessex and her husband King Ine were all described and narrated in such a way that I wanted to keep listening.

This had just the right amount of history, myth and magic for me - well, anything with those three things in is a winner, in my opinion!

With the resurgence of Greek Myth (yes, I’m a fan), it has been really heartening to see the odd Norse and Celtic myth and folklore book coming out. I enjoy a good retelling, and 5is is a good read. Yes, there are some seemingly modern themes: Æthelburg and Herla’s attraction and Ine’s asexuality in particular, but who’s to say these weren’t appropriate in 60AD? I’m sure homosexuality and asexuality have been a ‘thing’ for as long as there’s been humans (there probably is someone who could say - this is the internet, after all).

To me, as a listener/ reader, this just felt really genuine and well researched. I loved learning about the characters and their world.

Just as Sistersong left me eagerly awaiting Song of the Huntress, I’m really looking forward to whatever comes next from Lucy Holland.

Well as usual Steve Berry does it again, with a little help from Cotton Malone that is! I have yet to read a book by Berry that I had an easy time putting down & I can' imagine that I will ever find one. Malone is one of my favorite characters of all time. And the plots that Berry weaves around him are top notch, fast paced, & not easy to figure out. The Lincoln Myth is no exception to this formula.
The plot of this book centers around Lincoln and a secret deal he may or may have not made with Brigham Young during the Civil War. Calling this The Lincoln Myth is spot on. So many questions are raised & it really makes you think. All of the theories presented are so well researched & written that as a reader you almost forget that it is just a fictitious story & books like that are the best kind to read.

Another accessible, well-written, clear book from John Ashdown-Hill which sets out to myth-bust everything you think you knew about the 'Princes in the Tower' - including why that title is a misnomer. Felt a little sad as John passed away earlier this year (2018) as I looked forward to each contribution he made to this period of history. I will certainly re-read his books with pleasure - thank you John.

Fire in the Rain finds trouble once more in the island of Wraidd Elfennol. Will the Chosen of Fire and Water succeed? Or is the Island of Wraidd Elfennol doomed to live forever beneath the shadows of Cysgod?

Full of myth and magic, with a strong Welsh theme, Fire in the Rain brings to a close the Fantasy series set in the imaginary world of Wraidd Elfennol.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this manga. It's like a love letter fused with history, myth, and magic, for libraries and the power that the books can hold and give to their readers. It's an interesting premise for a manga series. Once I got further into the book, I expected to feel bored, but it was written in a way that I didn't feel that. Plus, most of the art was beautiful.

"I'm thinking first of this American movie in color, for its '70s-based reverie. For the myth of the road movie, the journey across the states, the speed, the photographed youth, almost like a Robert Frank of cinema in color. The simple light and opaque nights, from a time where the movies were very sensitive to emotions but the rolls insensitive to light. Back then you needed to light a lot but this movie escaped the rule."

So this movie was intresting, it had a intresting plot and message.

Dawn is an active member of her high-school chastity club but, when she meets Tobey, nature takes its course, and the pair answer the call. They suddenly learn she is a living example of the vagina dentata myth, when the encounter takes a grisly turn.

Its a pretty intresting horror movie, a underrated one. If your intresting do watch it.
