Merissa (12698 KP) rated Pulse and Prejudice (The Confession of Mr. Darcy, Vampire #1) in Books
Apr 14, 2023
As a long-term lover of the classics, Pride & Prejudice in particular, I wondered what I would get with this book. Would I love it or loathe it? Would it stay true to the original or go completely farcical?
What I got was a book that thrilled me with the story just as much as the original did. The language is true to form, the behaviour, the attitudes, it's all there. Only now add in the spice of an even more haughty and sultry Mr Darcy as he tries to contend with his vampiric nature.
Trust me when I say that this paranormal addition actually added something for me, it certainly didn't take anything away from the story. I devoured this book, only putting it down when I absolutely had to. If you like Paranormal and also the British Classics, then I really can't recommend this highly enough. It combines the two with excellent narrative, skill and aplomb. Highly Recommended.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Bad Camera
This third-person shooter game was one of my favorite GameCube games of all time. Lucasarts put out a few great Star Wars games in the 1990s and 2000s, and this was one of them.
Original actor Temuera Morrison again supplied the voice of Jango who is probably one of the coolest prequel characters.
The adventure and shooting enemies was great fun and kept me engaged for hours and hours. Unfortunately, rotating the camera, especially in tight spaces was a big negative.

I remember the original Power Rangers television show that first premiered when I was 5 years old (Pink Ranger 4 life). I had such high hopes for it, because the trailer made it look amazing. It was a little all over the place and had plenty of WTF moments. I found the product placement really distracting. Rita Repulsa needed a Krispy Kreme prior to trying to destroy the world?!?! I think it spent a little too long setting up the whole story, and this movie was over 2 hours long.

Amazingly magial
This film blew me away, it takes me a while usually to get emotional over a film. But not this one. Every song in the film is so powerful and will leave you close to tears (especially 'This Is Me') it shows that you should accept and love who you are no matter what you look like and the more you care for a person the more they can be your family no matter the background. I'd recommend to everyone any day

Get Out is a comment on a highly complex situation that’s also a total blast
Critic Review by Olly Richards - Empire
Original Score: 4 out of 5
Excerpt:
Its primary function is as a horror movie with shades of comedy, and it succeeds superbly. A lot of its deeper messages, which you could pick apart ad nauseum, only really bubble to the surface in thinking about it after. Peele’s a rare director who can combine big ideas with big fun.

In the final days of the Vietnam War, secretive organisation Monarch secures government funding to lead an expedition to a recently discovered island in search of new species. And they find them. Boy, do they find them.

Original Score: 3 out of 5
Excerpt:
Two films in to the MonsterVerse and it’s been a mixed start — both Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island fumbling the human characters, but nailing the kaiju. There’s potential, it’s just yet to be fully realised.

Absolutely Brilliant
I remember three cartoon from years ago and I loved that so thought well if can only be as good or worse. I was wrong it was better!! If you like Disney films then put this one on your watch list and you won't be disappointed at all. Not ashamed to admit that this film was amazing. From a start to finish I sang along to all the songs with only a few minor changes to them. In short if you liked the original Cartoon film you will love this version.

Perfectly crafted stage design, flawless controls, and an amazingly consistent flow of action (1 more)
Fun weapons, decent boss battles, and local co-op mode
The spiritual sequel to Robotron becomes the definitive dual-stick shooter, Nex Machina is almost perfect, and one of the most successful collaborations between like-minded creators that gaming has ever seen.

Disappointing
I was so excited to finally get a sequel to one of my favorite games on PS3 and probably my favorite EA game of all time. The main problem though was that the game didn’t know what it wanted to be, it couldn’t decide if it was a sequel or a reboot and it couldn’t decide if it wanted to be an open world game or linear based. Definitely the biggest disappointment of the year, but still quite fun if you enjoyed the first game.

The best (and one of the original) takes on a dystopian future
Orwell's take on the dystopian future is by far one of the best I've ever read. Yes it's bleak and depressing, but this just reflects the future it's telling. Winston is an appealing yet flawed main character, but you still find yourself rooting for him. The story drags a little during the middle, but the ending more than makes up for this. The worrying thing is you can almost imagine our future ending up like this, even if Orwell got the year wrong!
