Great gritty Drama
A really good powerful drama set at a care home in Liverpool just as the Covid pandemic starts.
The 2 great actors both from Liverpool are great in this. Jodi is showing recently she is a lot more than Villanelle of Killing Eve. Stephen Graham is great in what ever he does. Along with a good support cast with some well known faces. It's gritty, raw and very compelling.

Pretty damn powerful
A story of so many emotions, I couldn't put it down! My heart broke a little for these amazing men, the trials they go through, the raw pain, love and passion.
Will and Mike fight for each other through the fallout of a military attack, memory loss and injury.
Definitely an adult read, with sex, bdsm, mental anguish/ptsd and descriptions of violent acts. Brilliantly told in a way that keeps you hooked.

Tough subject
A film written, directed and starring Karen Gillan. Set in Inverness where she was born and raised. Her character is in a downward spiral after her best friend commits suicide.
Quite raw and gritty, definitely not a comedy. It can be quite slow and repetitive for a short film. However Gillian's acting is great and very different from her normal roles. So admire it for that even if it is quite a sad film.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Halloween II (2009) in Movies

Bizarre
No wonder this went straight to DVD in the UK. It is a gritty, raw film with some graphic, brutal violence....as you would expect. However the film does just feel a bit of a mess overall and a big disappointment after the great 2007 remake of the original Halloween film was done so well. The visions of his Mum at least offer an idea in to Michael's mind but the film just seemed all over the place at times.

Sarah Betts (103 KP) rated Becoming Superman in Books
Dec 31, 2019
I received a copy of Becoming Superman from HarperCollins Publishers through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, this book was exceptional. The beginning was horrifying but somehow entrancing in a way that all survivor stories are.
Joe Straczynski made a choice and by Grabthars hammer he stuck with it.
The raw determination espoused is nothing short of inspiring.
I don't think I can put into words how much this book touched me and I am so glad to have read it.
