Surpassed Expectations
I started watching this alone, as I'd heard so many people talking about how good it was and how scary it was - I didn't expect much, as I don't scare easily (I tend to prefer scary books over scary films, as the frights can be a little predictable on screen, whereas your own imagination can conjure up the things that are truly terrifying!), but I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

After the first three episodes, I was so enthralled by the story, I roped my husband in and started watching from the beginning again.

There were moments where I was unable to tear myself away from the screen, even though I didn't want to look! Parts where my husband and I both almost jumped out of our skins, and by the very end of the series, I think I'd run the gamut of human emotion. I think the most surprising thing of all was just how moving the series was; a few times, I'd been close to tears and in the final episode I was bawling my eyes out!

It is, without a doubt, a must-watch series on Netflix - in fact, it's one of the best shows I've seen of late - but be prepared to hold your breath, hide behind the cushions, and have the tissues ready for the finale.

4.5 stars for Anna Dressed in Blood.

If you ever wanted to know how to write a decent and great ghost story, this is it! I had high hopes for this book, and it didn't disappoint.

However, I was expecting it to be a bit more scary, but I didn't find it scary at all. I wouldn't consider it as a horror book. Paranormal ghost story, yes.

I loved, loved, loved the character of Anna. I loved her so much, in fact, that I was wishing that she actually did exist so we could be friends.

I also loved the fact that it had swearing in it that wasn't OTT like a lot of older teen books. The way Cas swears made him feel more like a real teenage boy. What 17 year old boy doesn't swear!?!

The plot was quite good although, when it came to the story line of how Anna died and why she was the way she was, it was quite predictable...This is what made me give the book 4.5 stars instead of 5...well, that and it wasn't scary which I was hoping for.

Overall, this is definitely a good read! I can't wait to read Girl of Nightmares to find out more about (hopefully) Anna, Cas, Carmel, and Thomas.

This is a book not to be missed!

I really enjoyed this story. I guess because it was "horror" it was more in-line with my genre preferences, but I didn't find this particularly scary... I actually thought it was quite sweet... apart from the murdering bit lol.

I liked our narrator and his back story with Doreen and his history of being on the school cycling team. I liked his honesty with the reader about wanting a way out of the life he's become used to and his view that you never really need to "grow up".

The Night Cyclist was meant to be the scary part of the story, but there was something so melancholy about him that I ended up almost liking him... or maybe pitying him.

If you like darker stories that are also quite poignant and lovely, and you have 10 minutes to spare, I'd definitely recommend reading this one.

Professional identity theft is scary
I remember watching this film shortly after its release thinking how scary this is in the modern age of social media. I warn my kids not to reveal themselves too much in the public domain because you never know who else is watching and listening.

There was some controversy on whether this movie was even legit or it was a "Catfish" for all of us, but I believe it to be true.

I can only imagine the disappointment, anguish and outrage to discover your online relationship partner was feeding you a line of total bullshit from the beginning. If this is true, the victims must have had a hard time believing the levels which were gone through to keep on the ruse.

I found the documentary captivating and intriguing.

The Haunting of Hill House- Season 1

This had all the wondrous traits of classic, old school horror. Suspense, tension, jump out of your skin moments. This has been beautifully blended with modern technology and a very thoughtful touch. There are some really fantastic subtleties to this. (0 more)
In some parts I did find it quite predictable, however this doesn't distract from the way in which the sometimes obvious story is put across. (0 more)
Scary scary times!
This is worth watching more than once. There are some very easy to miss subtle nods to the 'twists' in the story lurking in the background of several scenes. I do find the overall story predictable but at a peice of television it is dramatic, tense, full of suspense and really harks back to classic horror, but it has the benefit of a modern eye, modern technology and an audience perhaps unfamiliar with the older horror styles, so it packs a real punch.

Since the beginning of this year, 2015, I have been researching British and American forces in order to write a realistic theatre production, that will be based in Afghanistan 2009.
2009 became known as the, "bloodiest year in Afghanistan," after seeing the death of 100 British Soldiers. During the past seven months, I have read a fair amount of life-stories based in Afghanistan/Iraq. A good narration allows for a good visual effect that takes place in ones mind. David Wiseman allowed me to do that. His descriptive voice allowed me to place myself in his situation. It was scary. It was very scary. Throughout his book I have; thought, visualised, learned, laughed, cried and, ultimately, became inspired by his strength and determination. You have my utmost respect!

I have rated this book 5/5. You don't need to wonder why. Just read it!

Hurray! I finally get to chime in on a book for the book club! Full time work and school is putting such a dampener on my social life!

I remember being suitably impressed with this one when we reviewed it for the podcast last year. Its a fun read, a relatively quick read, and combines the best elements of scary Who to make it the perfect Halloween offering. Enjoy everyone!

2017 | Horror, Thriller
I really enjoyed this film I thought it was well directed and acted it wasn't "scary" in the traditional horror movie sense but this one left you feeling tense and uncomfortable throughout which is a refreshing change from your typical cheap jump scare horror the use of dark comedy is also great it helps to alleviate the tenseness but only ever so briefly before throwing you right back into it
