One of the better Carry on films set at a seaside resort with a beauty contest taking place.

"When I try to describe Jacques Tati’s hypnotic portrait of a summer season at a seaside resort to uninitiated friends, I ramble for a bit then cough up something like “Chaplin by way of Fellini.” In my defense I usually feel so guilty about this ridiculous description I end up buying them the disc."

Seaside is many Dominion players' favorite expansion. And if you have played a few expansions, you may find that to be the case. But if you are looking for your first expansion, I would recommend Prosperity. The cards are more straightforward, and there are no game-breaking cards.

Managed to get a couple of reviews in for my 2020 reads, many more to go... Will try to catch up. On my 85th book of the year ( The Possession - Michael Rutger). I have a week of peace from Friday, where I hope to get another five books read... the peace of the seaside, a lodge, a glass of wine or two and a hot tub...

Second film this year I've seen that deals with mental health as an issue the other one being a man called otto anyway the film Brilliant performances from both leads as this film is set in the 1980s it also deals with racism as part of the plot which I didn't like I liked the setting the seaside overall good movie

A quick read featuring Cree and Brock. Brock is a former boxer with a crush on Cree but he believes her to be in a relationship already so hands off. Cree has a crush on Brock but can't gather enough nerve to approach him and take it further. After the miscommunication works itself out, they realize they both are interested in pursuing a relationship. 3 1/2 stars for this novella in the Seaside Summers series.

Book Tour: Whispers by SeaSide - Review Whispers by Seaside is a good book. Though for me it I think it was more romance than liked but it was not bad. It was written well. I enjoyed it involved the family but it seems like this was more Matt’s story then Mira.It had a lot to do with Matt and Mira getting together more. Matt is reconnecting with his family. He is also getting involved in Hagen's and Mira's lives more. I am hoping to see more of Matt building relationships with his family more. I know he was building a relationship with Hagen throughout the book then with Mira. I would have like to see the relationship of the build up with Mira throughout the book. I know we did see a part of it.We hear more about these wedding that are taking place in this book. I would have been nice to find out more about Matt and his family more and their loves ones. Mira seems to worry more about her future and about Hagen's.Will it last? Will Matt stay at his job or will he leave it? You will need to read the book to find out.

A shadow over Innsmouth
By H. P Lovecraft

Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments

The story describes of a strange hybrid race, half-human and half an unknown creature that resembles a cross between a fish and frog, that dwells in the seaside village of Innsmouth (formerly a large town, but lately fallen into disrepair). The townspeople worship Cthulhu and Dagon, a Philistine deity incorporated into the Cthulhu Mythos.

He certainly has way of telling stories. This one was interesting and kinda gross I could almost smell the stench. One of the better ones I’ve read so far.

On World Book Day Robin Stevens brings us a short Detective Society story at the seaside. When a famous swimmer shows up dead on the beach smelling of soap, the Detective Society must team up with the Junior Pinkertons to solve the murder and get back to their summer holiday.
I really enjoyed just setting aside a short amount of time to just sit down and read ‘The Case Of The Drowned Pearl’ in one go. It was a nice, short, easy read and it was great getting to see a murder investigated from a new angle, with the chapters alternating between Daisy and Hazel’s perspectives.
I can’t wait to read the next Murder Most Unladylike book, although it will be sad bidding a fond farewell to the Detective Society.

Couldn't watch that film about angry feminists sabotaging Miss World as the cinemas are all shut, so I settled for this as it has basically the same plot. Moneygrubbing lecher Sid organises a beauty contest in the seaside town of Fircombe (dearie, dearie me); various hijinks ensue.

I know it's not very acceptable to like the Carry On films nowadays, but some of them are still consistently and irresistibly funny. Not this one, however. Most of the A-team hasn't turned up (no Kenneth Williams, no Charles Hawtrey, no Hattie Jacques, no Jim Dale) and most of the actors who are present are unable to lift the duff script they've been given. A heroic performance from Sid James does draw some laughs, but these films shouldn't be a one-man show. The consistent chauvinism and clumsy salaciousness becomes genuinely wearing as well. Grisly stuff, and quite hard going.
