Dianne Robbins (1738 KP) rated A Simple Favor in Books

I won this book from Smashbomb and was looking forward to reading it, but reviews I've read were lackluster so I wasn't expecting much. The author is a preschool teacher and I have found that teachers, whether preschool, college, or anywhere in between don't make the best authors. They tend to find themselves too clever and make bad decisions with their plotlines. This book was pure drudgery and I had to force myself to keep reading it, hating every moment of it. I finally decided that life is too short to read books I'm not enjoying and gave myself permission to stop reading and throw the book in the trash. It's that bad. I could not in good faith pass this book on to someone else. It's just awful.

The Midnight Tour ( Beast House chronicles book 3)
By Richard Laymon
Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments
The midnight tour of the Beast House begins on the stroke of midnight on Saturday nights only. On this particular midnight tour, 13 unlucky tourists are joined by an unexpected visitor and they'll be lucky to get out alive.
I thought this was the best so far by a long shot! The only thing keeping me from speeding through it was the Olympic Games ! I loved the development and I think I’m starting to get his writing style although he always manages a completely irrelevant scene in each book! I’m definitely going to be reading the last one and more.

This film is one of those movies that motivates you to do whatever you want, in your wildest dreams. Hilary Swank plays Erin Gruwell who is a fighter, a dreamer, relentless, a lover, a great teacher.
This story is incredible. I want to read the book. I want to meet these kids, I want to meet Erin Gruwell, that's how good this film is. It will tug at your heartstrings, it will leave you in awe, it will make you cry (or at least tear up). I loved everything about this film and I want to watch it a million times over. I cannot recommend this film enough. I would scream it from the tallest rooftop if I could, but alas, we're in quarantine so Smashbomb will have to do.

Finally!
I cannot be happier that there is finally a Smashbomb app in my life. Although there's nothing wrong with the website, having an app to use on the go is so much easier.
And the app itself is so easy to use, just a condensed version of the site. It's very responsive and runs very well, and it's very easy to navigate around.
My only criticism (sorry @Bird) is that I'm an android user and the app doesn't work with my back button. This is mainly me and my ocd, but I rely heavily on the back button and using it in the app currently just closes the app & sends me back to my phone home screen. Not a massive issue obviously but I don't have this with my other apps, so just being picky!

Fantastic!
I won this remote in a smashbomb giveaway and I could not be any more grateful!!! My parents already have one Roku Television & I gave this other remote to them for the second tv that they had in their home and now they can have a wide variety of shows, movies, etc. at their fingertips throughout their own little home! They live in an area where it is hard to get cable, and the installation is incredibly expensive so this works wonders for them! Especially since it can be linked to a Netflix! They are loving life! Sometimes it really is the little things! Thank you again so much! Hooking this up literally took 10-15 minutes! Easy breezy!

Facebook sucks!
I deleted mine 6 months ago and have never been happier. Still have Messenger so I can share and send photos of my dogs to family and friends. (we should have an Orb for pet photos)
I'd rather have actual conversations with actual people rather than hearing people bitch about other people, hating on random strangers, or how much you hate our current president.
I always got so hung up on or disappointed by how many "likes" my posts got and got so upset when I get enough comments or likes on them. Or when only 3 people said "Happy birthday" on my wall or when my mother liked 96 of my posts in a row.
Smashbomb is way better since everyone here is so friendly, happy and discussions of how much you hate anyone are nowhere to be found.

Page Turner (1 more)
good paced plot
I received this book as part of the giveaway here on Smashbomb, and I'm really glad I did because this is a book that would have potentially passed me by. Its a very good debut novel by Alex Michaelides and I look forward to seeing where he takes it next.
The book its self is a very easy read and a real page turner, it throws plenty of red herrings your way and tries to keep you guessing, it keeps the characters interesting enough for you to care whats happening.
For me the ending was signposted very early on, but I still read with excitement towards the end to see how it all unfolded.
I'd certainly recommend it, its a couple of days read so can be consumed quite easily.
