Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Complications (Rebound, #1) in Books
Jan 6, 2021
I liked this short tale.
The connection between our two main characters from early on caught my attention and I even liked their bedroom scenes which seemed to lean more towards the erotica end of things, and that isn't my favourite thing, though I must admit that after the first few scenes I got a bit fed up of the dirty-talk and just skimmed the rest of them.
As for the romance aspect I liked how it was light and easy to read. I just wish we'd had some sort of explanation for why he acted like he did, though since it's in three parts I'm sure it'll come to light in the next book.
I would be interested in continuing the series at some point.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Iron and Magic (The Iron Covenant, #1; Kate Daniels, #9.5) in Books
Jan 7, 2021
Hmm...
I struggled to get my head around a world that is magic half the time/tech the other half. When magic was up I saw the world in some sort of old fairy tale type way but then Hugh'd be in a Lazyboy chair and it would just throw me off completely. I couldn't get myself to see it as some sort of modern world with magic. I just couldn't.
As for the romance between our two leads, I was enjoying the slow build up but now they're at that point where things could become more permanent if they'd just talk about things, like what she is...?I
I wouldn't mind reading the second one and hopefully the world building will sink in next time.

Young Adult Historical Paranormal Romance
Dean (6926 KP) rated The Lost City (2022) in Movies
Apr 16, 2022 (Updated Dec 6, 2022)
Fun Adventure
Another film that seemed to pop out of no where. A light hearted comedy adventure film. In a similar mould to @Romancing the Stone (1984) The cast is very good, Daniel Radcliffe seems to have reprised his role from Now you see me 2 as a crazy rich villian in a suit after some ancient treasure in a lost city. So he kidnaps an author of a romance, action book believing her research could hold a clue.
It's pretty silly stuff but it definitely leans more towards the comedy side than anything else and thankfully is genuinely funny and has a a witty script. So if you are looking for a laugh with some funny action scenes thrown in, check this out.

Mo (66 KP) rated Bonded in Blood in Books
Jul 25, 2018
exciting plot (3 more)
subtle twists
Not cheesy
Not- teen drama heavy
some points in the book are unexplained (1 more)
contradicts itself in a big way
A really good book
This book was actually a good read. I was a bit skeptical when I found out it was a vampire story. However, it was very well done. It did not go over the top with the focus on vampires, it did not totally steer away from the plot like other vampire based books recently. It is not some cheesy teen drama with vampires book. It was a book with a bit of romance in places, a bit of vampire-centricity in others, and a lot of action, and a nice concise story. It did leave some questions hanging which really ruins the immersion, but you can look past them and enjoy the book. The next one looks really cool, and I will be reading that in the future.
Merissa (12051 KP) rated The Bend-Bite-Shift Box Set in Books
Dec 17, 2018
First of all, this box set is an absolute bargain. Not only do you get three full-length novels but you also get two novellas as well.
The plot is well written and well paced. The characters all have depth and oomph to them, and more than one has a hint of mystery to them. The story has one main theme which runs through all five books but then each book has it's own, more detailed story. There is enough going on that is a series that could go on for a few more books at least. I'm really hoping it does! +Olivia Hardin has written some more in the "For Love of Fae" trilogy which will have at least some characters that we have already met.
If you want Paranormal Romance with some action and mystery, with powers to 'bend' your mind at an incredible value for money price, then check out the Bend-Bite-Shift Box Set.

Yummy and hott. Two best words to describe this book. I don't normally enjoy historical books...I'm not big into that genre for some reason but this one caught me and held me and made me read it until it was over. The author has a way with words that is amazing. The characters were so tasty ;) and I really enjoyed the storyline. I cannot wait to see what else this author writes. Very good and I recommend it to everyone who enjoys a good romance.

Oooo.. a thriller with some romance.. this was amazing and so much fun to read. I enjoyed the characters and the plot. It kept me interested and I had to keep going because I had to know what happened. The writing is very interesting and I enjoyed this book very much. There were so many twists and turns that every page was somethign totally different and new and kept you on the edge of your seat. I am so glad I got to review this one.
Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Buried (Alex Hope, #2) in Books
Apr 1, 2018
The way Estelliam writes just hooks you and will not let go. This is the second Alex Hope book and it was even better than the first, which was pretty amazing. Some authors struggle to mix romance with the suspense/mystery but Estelliam gets just the right mix so that one aspect doesn't over ride the other. The charcters are well developed and keep growing as the books progress. The setting is almost a character in itself because it plays a vital part in the story.
