A worthy follow-up to Storm Front
I'll be upfront, I love this series of novels so will be fairly biased.
Our erstwhile hero, Harry Dresden, faces new threats in this book from wolves, werewolves and the authorities (mortal, magical and fae) and he has only his wits and his friends (few and far between) to help him.
Dresden is a believable hero in an unbelievable world. Magic has a cost, it doesn't solve everything, and sometimes a guy has to rely on himself and those he holds most dear in order to win the day, or even survive it.

I was absolutely blown away by this book! It's an audio-only version of the material covered in [[Marshall B. Rosenberg]]'s book of a similar name, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life: Life-Changing Tools for Healthy Relationships. It distills his lifetime of work on NVC.

I think it might have been 20 years since my brother-of-choice recommended Rosenberg's work to me. Yes, sometimes I'm slow. I intend to go ahead and read the print version as well as re-listen to this one several times.

The thing that really struck me was the empathic way of approaching people, including oneself.

Not quite what I hoped
I have to start by saying Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds really does become his character. He is Deadpool there is no doubt about that, he is someone you can love and laugh at. I enjoyed this film, it did make me laugh, I probably would watch it again. But to me it didn't live up to the first one, the humour was still there but sometimes forced. A lot of action which was expected and I enjoyed being part of the X-Men universe. There isn't much bad I can say about it, just that I expected more after loving the first one so much.

Seductive Sparrows!
I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sincerest apologies for not posting last week guys but sometimes university dissertation has to take priority you know?

Anyway, I have a killer book review today with the movie adaptation releasing on the 1st of March. The movie 'Red Sparrow' stars Jennifer Lawrence, ultimate baddest bitch of all time, alongside Joel Edgerton, Jeremy Irons and Matthias Schoenaerts.

I would always always advise you read the book before you watch a movie adaptation because I feel like you get more context and detail but thats just my biased view in favour of books :)

Malcolm’s Sass
Loads of fun but not a must-read
Jurassic Park was pleasantly well written, and I really enjoyed learning all these little details not in the movies, such as Clarence. The chaos theory stuff was great but that feels stale and mundane after too many years featuring Trump.

Malcom was fun and sometimes Hammond was too but honestly the other characters are pretty forgettable.

Read it if you love dinosaurs like I do, it’s fun, but if you aren’t dinosaur obsessed you’ll be bored. I liked it a lot but it doesn’t make my “omg everyone needs to read this” level of recommendation. :P

Great place to read free manga!
Manga Hub is a great app that allows you to read free Manga. There are a ton of titles to choose from that get updated regularly, if they're not a complete series. You can check your history for a list of titles that you have been reading, and there will be a tag that denotes a new update if there is one. The pages are usually scanned clearly, and while the translations sometimes aren't 100% perfect, they are very close. You won't lose the meaning at all. You'll love this app if you want to read manga! It's so easy to use!

Twists all over the place!
An amazingly twisty thriller! I read it quickly, because I just couldn't stop. I needed to know what would happen next.

The plot as we know it going in:
There are three things you should know about me:
1. I'm in a coma.
2. My husband doesn't love me any more.
3. Sometimes I lie.

That's really all I needed to suck me in. And it's all I'll tell you, so you can enjoy the story for yourself without any pre-knowledge. I thought it was well-written, and well done. I've heard rumors that there may be a sequel - I am on board for that!

This is my first read by Matt Haig. HOW TO STOP TIME is unique, deep, sometimes long-winded, sad, desperate and interesting. It has a past-present approach to story telling that worked very well.

The protagonist, Tom doesn’t age, at least not normally. He’s met Shakespeare, he’s loved but he’s lost so deeply and he remembers so much. This is a tale of such longing and of the inertia of existing for so long. It’s tragic, not particularly uplifting or depressing but it left me somewhat sad.

I particularly enjoyed the original storyline but I struggled occasionally with the pacing.

The audio narration, male single POV was very good.

Alexia oh how I love thee
Alexia is a true heroine and independant woman! I love her sense of adventure and fashion. She is spunky, sassy and intelligent showing that u dont have to be in the cookie cutter mold to be attractive to a guy like Lord Maccon. They are such a good pair together and compliment each other great. The character development Ms. Carriger gives to each and every character even down to the kind of shoes they had on, or sometimes lack there of is extraordinary. This new story line of the super-natural is superb.

The Harrowing is a great Ghost Story, very gripping and entertaining. The beginning was great and the ending was even better, at one point I was holding my breath and I just couldn't put the book down. I was so close to giving this book 5 stars but I was disappointed with some of the filler and unfortunately at times I did lose interest...however this only happened a couple of times. Overall, this was a great book with very likable characters in which I sometimes felt connected to so a very good emotional ride of a story. I highly recommend this book to fans of gripping ghost stories.
