Baby Driver tells the story of a “Baby“, after being coerced into working for a crime boss, the young getaway driver finds himself taking part in a heist doomed to fail.
From Edgar Wright, the director of Hot Fuzz, comes a movie that has mixed an all-out action movie with breathtaking car chases, humour and one hell of a soundtrack that is beautifully edited into the scenes of the movie to create something that is not only a pleasure to watch but also has your heart thumping and your toes tapping.
Right from the very start of Baby Driver the film lifts you up, as Baby and the crew stop to do a heist, Baby stays in the car ready for the getaway, he selects Bellbottoms by The John Spencer Blues Experience and sings along and drops some moves in the car, with a great track to start the film with and Baby (Ansel Elgort) showing that this movie is going to rock, how could we not look forward to more.

Pointlessly random
Only the second time I've walked out of the cinema.
I had very high hopes for this film, with an outstanding cast, and cast, and the usually brilliant Wes Anderson behind the wheel.
But it doesn't matter how good a cast is, it needs to be a good film.
Asteroid City is a play within a film, but unfortunately it tells the story of the play, and of the lead up to its opening night. Unfortunately the dynamic of switching between the two different stories really disrupts the flow of what would likely be a an enjoyable story.
Secondly, I know his films can be quite random at points, but a lot of scenes seem to be random for the sake of being random, adding nothing to the film or the story.
Also, only a nitpicky thing, but some of the songs featured during the 1955 scenes (Last Train to San Fernando, Freight Train) were songs that weren't released until 1957.
Overall, a great idea but poorly executed.

The costume designs and wardrobe were amazing to see

I have to say this movie really wasn't on the top of my list for "must watch" movies as much as I like Disney movies and Emma Stone as an actress (loved her in Superbad as Jules, lol) but I really liked this movie and it was really good. Emma Stone was fantastic as Estella/Cruella and this movie really came off as a mix of Devil Wears Prada and The Joker in my opinion. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it in the beginning because I was weary of the concept of them trying to turn this villain into a good guy or giving them a compelling reason for their "villainy" ways but I'm a sucker for revenge movies. I have to say it had me right away with what happens to her mother and It was "hook, line and sinker" for me and I was along for the ride. I like how the movie kept the characters of Jasper and Horace which if I remember correctly were the name of her two helpers the skinny and fat one from the cartoons who helped her steal all those puppies so that was pretty cool as well. I really can't say how much I loved the soundtrack for this movie, it was just hit after hit, song after song the whole way through the film. Lots of great oldie music from around the times that they movie was supposed to be set in which was 1970's. There were some issues that I had with the movie like how it portrays Cruella when she's so horrible in the cartoons, how the plot turns into a whole heist situation, and how it takes until the end of the movie to answer a lot of the questions that were building up the whole movie. The movie did have good things too, such as the acting being great, especially the performances by Emma Stone and Emma Thompson, the setting and time period fitting the story in 1970's London and the clothes and the fashion, not to mention the soundtrack that knocked it out of the park. I give this movie a 7/10, unfortunately it doesn't get my "must see" seal of approval and I wouldn't suggest shelling out $30 on top of your Disney Plus subscription to see this movie by yourself. However, if you plan on watching as a family it is definitely worth it to watch it in the comfort of your own home and not worry about movie theater etiquette or prices especially if you have young ones. If your not in a rush to watch it, I would wait until it becomes free to watch on Disney Plus which has been announced as Friday August 27th, so around 3 months. Something Wicked
Gretel and hansel is everything I hoped it would be & more, a devilsh dive into witchcraft & an utterly nightmarish visual feast for both the eyes & senses. Gretel & Hansel is a new take on the well known Grimm fairytale & for a simple comparison it's much like one of my favourite horror films of all time 2015's The witch. Now I'm guessing that's put some people off already but those who are still with me are in for a delightful treat. Think Suspira if it were boiled in a pot with the witch, hagazussa & it comes at night & you have painted a picture of what to expect here. Extremely slow pacing, constantly lingering ominous dread & a soundtrack that's likely to cause the hairs on your neck to stand up every time it drones. To say this film is absolutely gorgeous is an insult, every single frame is awash with beautifully striking & highly interesting to explore imagery & colour. It's so visually striking & breathtaking I could happily of sat & watched it with no sound & still be as entranced by its wicked ways. However the way these visuals mash with the synth & droning soundtrack honestly kept me glued to the screen seemingly bewitched & fixated in a trance like state. As you can tell these types of films are my passion when it comes to horror, I much prefer the slow lingering constant sense of dread & creepy imagery that lead up to a shocking pay off while also intertwining the kind of depth & philosophy you have to unravel yourself instead of being spoon fed the plot by the characters themselves. This film is no different & as we delve deep into such themes as female empowerment, innocence, sacrifice, responsibility, naivety, addiction & greed as a viewer the web spun for you begins to unravel about what the film is truly trying to say at its core. Sophia Lillis who you may know from IT does wonders here as Gretel & it's her character, acting & attachment that really hooks you & makes every scene with her in feel calming amongst all the oddities going on. I honestly can not praise this film enough & say if your into art house cinema do not hesitate at grabbing this on glorious 4k. A stunning, breathless wonder of a movie to that will leave you feeling body unnerved & your mind shaken.
