An amazing story !
I think that this book was just the change of pace I needed. Such a refreshing story line and some great characters that wouldn't let me put the book down. Mercy and Caleb really have to learn the concept of communication, they learn that even when you are unsure of what reaction you might get you have to talk. They are a great example of everyday couples. We also see glimpses into how a communities deals with massive fires, I love Kelly Irvin's descriptions of emotions here through all the different characters. This book can be read as a stand alone, however, I think that there will be more books in this series (Or at least I hope so !). I can not wait to read what comes after this one.

This was a great continuation of the story, however, I feel it suffered a bit from middle book syndrome - ie, where is purpose is to move the overall series plot forward, and so neglected to find its own internal arch. This resulted with a slightly unsatisfying feelings. This won't matter in the long run, as I'm still intrigued and captured by the series plotting, but as a stand alone it lacks a little bit of spark. Also, still no world building as to what causes Cyborgs to be reviled, though still not a deal breaker it would be nice if this was explained. Prejudices generally don't stem from pure revulsion. There's always some kind of warped logic or distortion of history. In my head canon it's that cyborg technology came about following the fourth world war, and the disgust at the horrors of that war, linked to all the now cyborg ex soldiers fueled the prejudice.

"This is my favorite Fellini film because it’s the one I identify with the most. On the surface, Cabiria has her act together. She insists on working for herself. She owns her own house and has savings. Even when she’s feeling awed by a big movie star, she stands up for herself and yells at him when he orders her around. But the instant she’s alone, vulnerability and self-doubt are written all over her face, and she is at the world’s mercy. Throughout the film, you feel everything Cabiria feels. For me, one of the most horrifying shots of all time is one in which Cabiria is sitting in a restaurant displaying her gigantic bundle of money to the man who is going to steal it. When I showed the film to my mother, she was traumatized by that image as well and kept saying, “I couldn’t stand to see her holding that huge money!”"

Well, that was thoroughly enjoyable.

Seemingly taking it's cue - especially in combat - from Rocksteady's Arkham series of Batman games, this tells a completely new, completely stand-alone story, with a Peter Parker who has been Spider-Man, now, for 8 years and so is free of any restrictions placed upon it by tying it to a particular movie or graphic novel.

While it can get a bit repetitive in places, the central mechanic of web-swinging around a populated New York - one that even has a scale able The Avengers Tower in it (question: what will happen now that the Sony/Marvel deal has broken down?) - is great fun, while the story and plot itself is actually pretty good. Yes, anyone with even a passing knowledge of the Spider-Man lore may see where parts of it are going, but the fun (in this case) is in the journey, not the destination ...

Looking forward to the inevitable sequel.

ok, I wasn't going to watch this one because sequels like these, I find, tend to be worse than the originals. Someone wanted me to check it out so, against my better judgements, I did. What I found was a watered down(pun intended) version of the first film(which I really liked and enjoyed). The cinematography wasn't too bad with some decent effects but the acting was weak and the storyline was too. It was very predictable and had your typical Hollywood leave-it-open-for-a-sequel ending(something the original didn't do). This could've been a stand alone film except for the glaring similarities in characters and plot(only on a much lower budget). I don't think I'll be watching the third one. Honestly, you wouldn't be missing anything if you didn't see this one yourselves. Just go watch the first one again. Much more entertaining. NOT worth a watch.
