A great game that works well
Pandemic was my first (grown up) board game in a while... It was also a great way to introduce others to tabletop gaming because it is so easy to teach on the fly...the mechanics work really well thematically...it's great to have in your collection and start a game night with friends or family because there isn't any bickering because the whole point of the game is to work together

Board game for beginners
Tsuro, a game I first found out about from Tabletop episodes. This game is very much as advertised there, easy to pick up and play, and can be a bit of a laugh when you outplay others.

I very much enjoy this game, and I think the casual nature can lead much to desire, however there are times when I would like a more longer and intense game then the 5 minute short bursts.

Great family friendly introductory game!
I really enjoy this game. This is a great game to introduce to people new to the tabletop gaming industry. Century golem edition is a rethemed version of Century Spice Road. Both games are played the exact same way. I prefer Century Golem Edition over Century Spice Road, for no other reason but looks. Century is a great set collection game with minimal "take that" mechanics that can turn people away from other that collecting games. Easy game to play, an easy game to learn, challenging enough for beginners, not so easy for heavier gamers to avoid playing with new gamers.

Great Ratings
Great for those of us who don't have iTunes, or want to rate something that isn't available there.
A great app to share reviews (both good and bad) of books, music, podcasts, movies, tabletop games, apps, tech items, and clothing, to help others who want to know whether something is worth trying. As a member you can both read and leave reviews, and enter giveaway draws to have items sent to you to review, some of which are pretty epic.
The Smashbomb app is proof that good things come in small packages.

Samueljhague (1250 KP) rated Carcassonne in Tabletop Games

Carcassonne
Carcassonne
2000 | City Building, Medieval, Territory Building
Easy to learn. Art is good. Components are good. This game first used people shaped wooden tokens that became known as meeples. Different difficulty levels. (0 more)
It lasts longer than it should sometimes. It has too many expansions, that add to the playtime. (0 more)
Carcassonne, a tabletop gaming cornerstone...
Carcassonne is a cornerstone of modern tabletop gaming. There are more positives than negatives with this game. It is a great introductory game for people who are unfamiliar with modern board games. This is also a great family game, because you can play the game on different difficulty levels. Removing the farmer option is the easiest variant to start with. The art in the newest version is an upgrade over previous versions. It is nice that the base game comes with a couple of easy mini expansions. I do think that adding expansions is fun, but I don't think you should play with all of them at the same time. This review is a result of a giveaway courtesy of Smashbomb.
