The Hughes brothers make quite an impactful debut with this realistically powerful and violently graphic story.
I found similarities between this and Carlito's Way in that it's a story about changing one's life no matter how bad it was before things get out of hand and time runs out for you.
The gang violence is excessive and the story line shows that growing up in this environment makes it very difficult to escape from.
It's one of the better gang related movies alongside Boyz n The Hood and has a strong message.

"Jules Dassin was an American filmmaker who moved to Paris to escape Joseph McCarthy, Roy Cohn, and the rest of the HUAC thugs. In the City of Lights he managed to make the most French gangster film and best heist movie ever. The actual break-in and robbery scene (based on a real burglary in Marseille at the turn of the century) happens over an astoundingly tense twenty-six minutes of silence. It is unforgettable. Dassin himself plays the role of the Italian safecracker Cesar under the pseudonym Perlo Vita and showed himself to be as adept in front of the camera as he was behind it."

This completely original film meets every dream I could possible have centering around a museum. In short, there's only one dream that I'm sure every kid has had about museums, the idea of those plastic displays and figurines coming to life. This movie takes that idea and makes it into something truly unique. Along with being absolutely hilarious this film offers the perfect escape from reality and a great film that both the kids and yourself can enjoy.

Interesting Characters
This is my first historical fiction and I have to say I surprisingly enjoyed it.
Lilian Shepard has decided to get on a ship to start afresh in Australia, she has to escape from the awful reminders of something awful that has happened to her.

During the trip she makes friends with a group of people from all different backgrounds and classes. Its all so new and exciting to begin with. By the end of the voyage, two people are dead.

Unpredictable
Nifty little game where you are trying to escape and get rid of nightmares. Literally! It combines very easy rules with the need of adapting your strategy through the game depending on the cards you are dealt. It is great as a one player game as well as two player cooperative game. The only downside for me is that it requires a lot of card shuffling. But if you don't mind then I would highly recommend it.
