Characters Coming into Their Own
Poets & Piracy saw the characters becoming distinct from their Firefly counterparts. We started to see some backstory, especially from Tanny as we met some of her family members. The series started to show promise of being a good stand alone fantasy rather than Firefly fan-fiction.

Not bad
This show has promise. The pilot episode had decent acting and cinematography. The fight scenes need a little tweaking, but overall not too shabby. Ruby Rose seems to play the character well(although she's a little on the skinny side for Batwoman, in my opinion). Overall though, if you're a fan, I think you'll enjoy this show. Worth a watch.

Third volumne of the Bandy Papers, this time set during the latter years of the First World War.

It's a book of two parts that, at one stage, had me laughing so much I was nearly crying (during the first portion of the book, mainly concerned with Bandy's attempts to get official recognition for parachutes), even if the second portion of the book (mainly concerned with Russia) did not live up to the same promise.

I'm a sucker for anything dog-related and this book had me hooked from seeing the cover photo of a Golden Retriever. Fortunately, the book delivers on its promise of doggy goodness focusing on dog trainer Mason and his latest recruit super sniffer Vira.

This is a fast-paced crime drama with a great dog focus.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the copy.

"Like artists of all stripes, I have attempted to analyze and justify my practice. The creative life, at its best, elucidates and thrives within pleasure, its absence, its expectation, and its promise. Bloom’s book isn’t a how-to on life, but rather a cold disciplined stare into the machinery of pleasure as it relates to human consciousness."

"Rocky one — it feels ridiculous to have to qualify Rocky with a “1,” but the subsequent sequels have smokescreened the truth that the original Rocky won the Oscar, is a monumental humanitarian story, and most importantly… Rocky does not win the final fight with Apollo. Some people literally don’t believe me when I tell them this. If you’ve forgotten this, please re-watch it. I promise you won’t be disappointed."

Decent story
This had the promise of being a really good story with a slight fantasy element to it but it just didn't seem to pull it off for me. The characters were a little strange and hard to follow, and the flow was a little off but the descriptions were vivid and brought the world to life and I liked that there were such diverse range of characters in the story.

I really tried to get into this book. I did, but it was just not complete for me. It has promise and with a few rewrites I am sure it can be a fantastic book. Unfortunately due to formatting, plot, and underdevelopment of the characters this just wasn't an easy read.
