ClareR (5879 KP) rated Salvage the Bones in Books
Jun 8, 2018
This is a beautifully written book: lyrical, haunting and it doesn't pull it's punches. There were moments when I didn't really want to read with my eyes open (the dog fight - I found that very distressing), but this family had me in its grip from start to finish. I loved how 'together' they were (the siblings, anyway), how they all fought to survive, even down to the dog, China and her puppies.
You know hurricane Katrina is coming, but when it arrives in all it's visceral fury, I was truly terrified for them.
I can see why this has won awards. I loved the writing style. I'm looking forward to reading more books by Ward.

Lou Grande (148 KP) rated Marie's Room in Video Games
Jun 12, 2018
Kind of like Life is Strange, Marie's Room is the story of two girls--just without any of the supernatural elements. You move around (get this) Marie's room and piece together the events that happened twenty years before. The gameplay involves adjusting your sight with your mouse and moving with your keyboard, but it's surprisingly fluid. The goal is to complete Marie's journal by finding all the clues around her room. The soundtrack is awesome and included in the DLC on Steam. It's approximately an hour of gameplay, but it's a free game. There are no save options, as it's meant to be played in one session. It's a neat little visual story.

Nicole Hadley (380 KP) rated Breaking Breads in Books
Jun 16, 2018
Breaking Breads by Uri Scheft is a book full of many new and interesting breads. The recipes are easy to follow. The photos are wonderful.
The sections on baking at home was very good and one of the best I have read. His explanation on how to knead dough was helpful.
The book has great step-by-step pictures and fairly simple instructions for the recipes. The photos are great for intimidating for a novice baker.
The entire book was thoughtfully put together with clear explanations and helpful tips along the way. Step by step pictures were also included (super helpful for the above-mentioned apple strudel) as were suggestions for achieving perfect bakery-likeconsistency.

The book Caraval for me personally was enjoyable. I really enjoyed the aspect of magic in the book and how that was developed throughout. I think the author really did pull something amazing together with the idea of Caraval and Legend. It did have its flaws where I feel the characters were not really developed enough and I feel like the ending of the story to me felt a little rushed. It felt like different things were happening fast and suddenly. Overall I would say it's a really great book I continued to read the story as I wanted to know what happened and just really loved the magic showed throughout the story.
The first four episodes are confusing. You really have to hang in there and pay attention in order for it all to come together. This definitely isn't a show you can multitask during. I only say this is a negative to make sure people understand it's a show (1 more)
WORTH paying attention to. So if you don't have the time or ability to pay attention to it, I would wait until you do.

I enjoyed this book very much. The characters all had a purpose. Everyone did something noteworthy when put on the spot to save the kingdom. I enjoyed that Holland was redeemed and sacrificed everything to save Arnes. I also liked that Alucard and Rhy ended up together as well as Lila and Kell. I will admit that I cried when Lila and Kell left Arnes. One thing kind of bothered me though: Kell's real identity wasn't shown. I waited from the first book to the third to find out who the hell he was, and I was a little bit disappointed when I didn't. Overall, although I was disappointed by Kell's identity crisis resolution, this book was amazing.

Ivana A. | Diary of Difference (1171 KP) rated the Xbox One version of Rocket League in Video Games

I love this game a lot.
A car and football, blended together. I play it on PC with my X-Box Controller and I am so happy.
The most exciting moments for me were when each game would end, I would receive a certain loot.
And now, they implemented a new update - with Tiers, same as hmmm... FORTNITE!
If you can buy it, you'll get loot. If not - you have to wait until you level up.
Now I am not so eager to play anymore. My rating was 9/10. Now it's dropped down to a 4/10.
Sad...
P.S - when choosing platform, you can't choose PC :(

Poor plot (1 more)
Some dodgy CGI
A large helping of cheese
Well I finally gave this a whirl not expecting much. It seems like a CGI led disaster film in The day after tomorrow mould. To combat climate change the world has come together to build a network of satellites to control the weather. It predictably starts to go wrong, cue scenes of mass distruction around the globe and needs to be fixed.
The cast was quite impressive and the SFX overall were good. It suffers badly from the weak plot and characters though. Ok for a watch but not a patch on The day after tomorrow, Deep impact and many others.

The Grudge's Ring
If you liked the ring remake, than you will like this movie. Its good, its scary, haunted and creepy.
The Plot: Matthew Williams (William Mapother), his wife, Jennifer (Clea DuVall), and mother, Emma (Grace Zabriskie), are Americans making a new life in Tokyo. Together they move into a house that has been the site of supernatural occurrences in the past, and it isn't long before their new home begins terrorizing the Williams family as well. The house, as it turns out, is the site of a curse that lingers in a specific place and claims the lives of anyone that comes near.
Like i said, its scary, creepy and haunted.

Book Divas (227 KP) rated Uncharted in Books

Ensnared Me
I just finished reading Uncharted and I will start by saying that the author truly has a way of storytelling that ensnared me right from the start. The mystery, legends and the action were extraordinarily well put together and I simply couldn't get enough of it. This well-written book is for anyone who loves Celtic lore and strong characters!
Annabeth quickly became a female I could and would admire and Griffin who exudes raw masculinity had a side to him that just had me wanting to cuddle up right beside him.
This is the first book I've read written by this author and I will definitely continue to read her work.
