"For every lonely, mixed-up kid like I was, the great François Truffaut’s universal classic can still move and enthrall. Heartbreakingly sensitive without ever being sentimental. I believe Mr. Truffaut created the freeze-frame ending with this film, which has the effect of letting us consider what happens at turning points, and not just in Antoine’s life. And best puppet show ever in a movie."

"Angel Kyodo Williams is a young black woman who is also an ordained Zen priest. In this remarkable book, she brings a hip and modern eye to the teachings of the Buddha. I was moved by her honesty and great patience in interpreting the dharma: her understanding of suffering and her willingness to aid in the universal effort toward the growth of compassion and joy."

Relatable, heart-rending writing
Anne’s honest and open aspirations are cruelly cut short at the end of the diary entries and her life. The universal grief experienced the first time I reached the end (after feeling as though I had become her best friend) will never leave me.

Worlds apart
This is a book I've now read so often I have owned several copies, just replacing well thumbed pages. Superb characterisation and development, a horrendously plausible premise, and even the stranger parts of the plot feel all too real. Although references and phrases may seem quite dated to a modern reader, the themes explored are pretty universal - ultimately, a disturbingly compelling look at the human condition.

The House of Horrors
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein- is such a classic horror movie mixed with humor, comedy, sci-fi and is in the universal monster universe. Plus this has Lon Chaney Jr. as The Wolfman, Bela Lugosi as Dracula, Glenn Strange as Frankenstein and Vincent Price as the voice of the Invisible Man. OMG so many horror icons/legends within one movie. Love it.

The Plot: In the first of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello's horror vehicles for Universal Pictures, the inimitable comic duo star as railway baggage handlers in northern Florida. When a pair of crates belonging to a house of horrors museum are mishandled by Wilbur (Lou Costello), the museum's director, Mr. MacDougal (Frank Ferguson), demands that they deliver them personally so that they can be inspected for insurance purposes, but Lou's friend Chick (Bud Abbott) has grave suspicions.

Its funny, entertaining, thrilling, and overall excellent. If you havent seen it, than go and watch it.

Universal Credit, crippling those in most need and forcing others who may have long term health issues back to work. This system, along with the current government, is deeply flawed and is causing nothing but misery for thousands of honest people trapped in an unforgiving system virtually reducing those in most need to being treated as common criminals. There is no empathy, just empty words and threats. Big Brother is watching, beware.

When I first saw the previews for this movie, I was sold. I like different takes on Dracula, and I thought the backstory they built was really cool. I was kind of sad when it didn't do well, and it'll probably never get a sequel. I loved Luke Evans as Dracula, and if Universal had decided not to can Dark Universe, I'd have hoped they'd have opted to bring him back.

"One of the most beautiful films ever made. It’s a French movie with almost no dialogue, and I remember watching it in school several times. The innocence and the imagination of the young protagonist are threatened by bullies and adults, but the relationship he forms with his balloon gives us marvelous insight into childhood. I love how the film explores universal themes that can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages and backgrounds."

"Many people in the West might not be aware of how much this collection means to younger women across the Middle East. Not only each particular story, and sub-story, but also the very storyteller behind, the great Shehrazad, is inspiring. The style is playful, the themes both universal and daring. Forget the sugar-coated Disney version; there is a core inside this world classic that was, and still is, quite forward-looking."
