Set in an alternate season three, SINS OF THE FATHER features two interesting, although slightly competitive, plots. The first one has Pike (featured in the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the comic, [b:Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Omnibus, Vol. 1|271365|Buffy the Vampire Slayer Omnibus, Vol. 1|Joss Whedon|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348752850s/271365.jpg|263081]) coming to town for Buffy's help with a stone demon, while the second deals with Giles and his past. Quite obviously, demons of all kinds are the theme of the book.
This is my first foray into the Buffy novels and I have to say it was a pretty good one to start with. The characterizations were well-done, most notably Willow and Xander (I could just hear their dialogue and see their expressions), with the exceptions of Cordy, who sounded like herself about half the time, and Giles, who just seemed off somehow. The plot moves well enough along and the action was well-written. I especially liked their new vampire equipment that you can't help but think, "Why didn't anyone come up with this before?" The banter was great and definitely had the feel of the show, it made me laugh quite a few times. The only thing I had a problem with was Buffy's indecision about Pike and Angel. While I get the part about Pike being a 'normal' guy who knows that she fights paranormal crime and isn't put off, but why does she have such strong feelings for him still? It's been two, two-and-a-half years since she even saw him, I just don't see it. Also, the 'impossible love' between Buffy and Angel was redundant. If anyone has ever seen the show (and how many are going to read the books if they aren't a fan?), they already know all the angsty melodrama on the subject. One remark on the subject was all we needed, not repeatedly using just about the same two phrases a million times. With those two quibbles said, this was an entertaining book that took me back to my favorite time of the show, the high school years.

Interview with a vampire is (shock) quite literally an interview with a vampire!
I give this book 4 stars but it’s kinda stuck between 3 and 4. I feel like this book would have been more mind blowing and interesting had I not been exposed to so many conflicted supernatural creature/broody vampire stories in the past years. Reading this book now is kinda lackluster because of it- everything seemed very predictable. I can appreciate it for what it did to vampire fiction, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to enjoy the story to its full extent.
I did enjoy the characters though. Again not as much as I could have (had this been my only time exposed to characters like these I’d have enjoyed them way more) but they were still clearly well thought out and their motivations and thoughts seemed very natural. Not necessarily sympathetic characters though- seriously Louis, grow some balls.
I enjoyed Claudia’s character, but the two characters I really liked were Lestat and Armand. I wasn’t expecting that Armand had killed Claudia and Madeline, but looking back I feel like it was obvious. Lestat was annoying and great, and since this next book is about him (I think?) I’ll probably continue with the series, because I’ve heard it gets better from here.
Just a few other nitpicks I have for the story: I like how beautiful Anne Rice’s writing style is, but even for me it got a bit dull at parts... The beginning of the book and a few points through the middle were difficult for me to get through, though I stuck with it. Also the whole jumping from the story back to the interviewer didn’t seem to work well, and the ending with the interviewer getting fed on by Louis was very ehhhhhhhh...
Anyways I’ll be checking out the second book at least. I really wouldn’t recommend this book to everyone. If you like vampires, just make sure you like lengthy prose as well, and you and this book will get along fine.

This was a pretty good short bordering 3.5 stars. It’s good to see the sister are now al mated. I’m a bit unsure the Cele is really dead though as she was planning a clone! I don’t think we’ve seen the last of her it seemed to easy! I do love our little visits to the realm!

quite dark in places, but I do think it is needed!

Here's the thing, right? I DNF'ed this book, 2 years ago, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why!
I really REALLY liked this book! It starts off with a zombie mouse, and then runs away with itself!
Sarai is a witch, with dual power. She is in hiding from her father. When vigilanties hunting both vampire and witch find her, she is saved by a vampire. Marcelle is second in command to the vampire king, Setanta. Who wants to use Sarai to form an alliance to fight said vigilanties.
This is wonderfully written, starting off fast and furious and not letting up. Mostly from Sarai's point of view, with Marcelle having the other voice, it really was a great read. It is quite dark in some places, with a slightly deranged witch doing despicable things to Marcelle that is on page, but I do feel that it is needed.
The smexy times between Marcelle and Sarai are not explicit, but they are steamy.
But the thing is: I can't see where this is going, nor how it's going to end. And it's frustrating! Sarai and Marcelle have a relationship here, and Marcelle (along with most vampires, if not all) are NOT monogamous, but the relationship between Marcelle and Setanta takes a back seat to Sarai and Marcelle. I think I would have liked a bit more of Setanta, either as a voice or with Marcelle. He's an interesting character! So, I've no idea if Sarai will end up with Marcelle, or someone else, or no one, because her father might get her!
So, the book ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, with Sarai being confined to the vampire stronghold. Not quite a kindle-throwing cliff hanger but nearly!
I have book 2, Midnight Fear to read next, which is the conclusion of this storyline.

A collection of short stories involving vampires. Who doesn’t love vampires. These are the legitimate kind though so no sparkles. I enjoyed the twist in history. To give a reason for blood lust.
Natural Born Predators was awesome. The Beauty and The Beast with a vampire twist. Belle is no damsel in distress. She is a hard core vampire hunter. She is lethal and hot. Frey is a god with the power to control the weather around his castle. He imprisoned Bell's father for trespassing. What he wasn’t expecting was this beauty to come and calm his world. He knows he can’t change who Bell is but can he accept the thought of her always putting her life at risk.
All the stories were really good. It would be awesome to read full length novels of Fate and Fortune and Natural Born Predators. To get more details on the love stories and how the lives of the people effected turned out. To see that not all stories have a HEA.

A Vampire, A Hare and A Human Sacrifice
The horror genre has never been one that I read a lot of. I'm more of a fantasy, murder mystery kinda gal. Horror gives me the creeps (as it should) so I tend to avoid it as much as I can.
Now in the hopes of becoming a more well-rounded reader, I decided to take a dive into the deep end and pick up these unsettling read.
Midwinterblood tells the story of the souls of Eric and Merle. Yes, I did say souls. This book is about reincarnation, the past and future lives and how our souls stay intertwined with the ones we love. Midwinterblood is split into 8 chapters each represented by a different moon and a different time period, I wouldn't say it's a pure love story, although that is what I initially thought after the first chapter, as each story is so different I wouldn't say it's got a specific theme throughout.

I'm on my 4th reread and I've possibly reviewed this book before. This is my favourite of the of the the first 3 books. Apart from Bella still drives me crazy she is so pathetic sometimes! But yes I still like the books! This is seeing an end to all her relationships before they change in my opinion. My heart breaks for Jacob in this book he definitely gets the elbow and strictly friendzoned before the book ends!
Victoria is finally dead and the voltorie is all that's left to worry about.

ummmmm WHAT?
Ok so I watched this a few days after rewatching Interview with a Vampire. I had seen it before, but remembered very little.
This movie was a hack job and sought to combine the Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned into a movie under 2 hours. It's a poor adaption, and that's all I'm going to say about that.
Stuart Townsend wasn't a bad Lestat overall. Of course, he didn't look like him at all, and his backstory was... again, this was a hack-job. There were numerous plot holes and it just ends... It's strange.
Aaliyah was alright, and I think it suffered because she passed just after principle photography. I'm sure with re-shoots, this film may have been better. RIP Aaliyah.
The best part of this entire film was the soundtrack, written by some dudes from KORN. It was sufficiently moody, and honestly, I wouldn't mind if they scores/wrote the music for the new series. The music is the only reason I rated this as high as I did.

A cult classic
The Lost Boys is known as rather a cult classic, and justifiably so. It might be over 30 years old now but it can still put modern day vampire films to shame.
It's undeniably 80s, but that's part of it's charm. It's atmospheric with a great soundtrack and a rather impressive cast. Vampires have been done to death over the past however many decades but The Lost Boys really brings a fun yet still fairly scary take on them - there's loads of dark humour in this and yet some pretty creepy scenes too and some twists and turns. It moves at a steady pace without ever dragging, and the final act is an aamzing spectacle- the blood, gore and outlandish deaths are both genius and wickedly funny. My only criticism would be that there are a few cliched and cringey moments, but fortunately these are few and far between and overall this is a hugely enjoyable and entertaining vampire film. Very deserving of being a cult classic.
