Visually striking if rather unsubtle and slightly incoherent Hammer horror movie. The usual sort of thing: humble townsfolk have enough of the local vampire and do him in, only to face a dreadful revenge years later. This time the instrument of vengeance is a circus full of (you'll never guess!) vampires.

Pretty much as extravagant as Hammer ever got, in terms of gore and nudity; the impact of the film is helped by lurid production design and cinematography. That said, the story's nothing special and most of the acting from the leads is very drab. (Extraordinary supporting cast full of culty names who don't get much to do.) The odd decent moment and sequence, not far off the average standard of early seventies Hammer. Vacuous but watchable.

It's the end.

I feel kinda sad that this is the last time that I will ever read about Claire, Shane, Eve, Michael, Amelie, Oliver, Myrnin and the rest of Morganville. Over the last fifteen books the little town and it's residents have grown on me.

I've always loved Myrnin and I think I love him a little more after this. He's definitely memorable with his crazy fashion sense and his lab. The other thing that I loved in this book was the Glass House, it's always had a personality but the way it went about helping the gang in this one *grins*

I'm glad that everything worked out in the end, both for the humans and the vampires. A nice ending to the series.

Fun, but not amazing
Black as night is an Amazon movie, about vampires causing havoc in the predominantly poor black community in New Orleans.

It follows a young girl, who after suffering a family tragedy for to vampiric influence, decides to get her Buffy on and take vengeance.

It's a fun Blumhouse film, but it's made almost for quite a young audience (like, too young to actually watch it). Some of the characters are good, but the narration from the protagonist throws the feeling of the film off for me, and I don't know why.

All in all, it's not bad, and worth a watch, but it's by no means a good vampire film.
