SquidGirl (13 KP) rated Sourcery: Discworld: The Unseen University Collection in Books
Dec 12, 2018
So I usually really like reading Discworld books and I usually love Rincewind stories, but this book was a bit of a bust, I struggled to read it because it was, for me, really slow paced. I really like Conina, she was an excellent character and of course I liked the Luggage, cause who doesn't?
The other two characters I wasn't very keen on, they kind of bored me. Coin was a really good character and the ending was amazing with Rincewind being brave for once!

Oh My Christ...
oh oh my word!!! The trailer for this show made me want to hurl BUT I am not one to pre judge so I knew this show had to be given at least 3 episodes.
I wish I hadn’t bothered, aside from Ruby Rose actually making some awful ham fisted dialogue work for well I can’t say to many good things.
A big mid fire for me and I won’t be continuing but I am glad to see more DC shows getting an audience on TV

I am little late, to put it mildly, with reading this book but better late than never I always say!
What a good read and one I'm pleased I didn't miss. Full of twists and turns, excellent characters, gripping story and a great writing style this is a great debut and one I would recommend to the few people out there who, like me, are a bit late joining the party!
Thanks go to Little, Brown Book Group UK via NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review.

I received a copy of Murder From Scratch from Netgalley and the publisher.
I really enjoyed this book. My main issue is that all the food talk made me so hungry and as "issues" go that's not bad at all!
I really appreciate the writing of Evelyn. She's actually written as an adult with interests and not as a tall child who brings light to able-bodied folx.
I liked the mystery a lot. The way it was set up as an "obvious" suicide but a family member knows what's up? Definitely my thing!

An interesting but not easy read
As a lover of Victorian literature, I wanted to delve in to what the Russians were writing at the time, and where better to start than with the hugely loved Dostoyevsky. This novel is incredibly long, seconded only by Crime and Punishment. Yet not much really happens to do with the plot. This novel is more about characters and their development, as well as exploring big themes such as religion, crime, justice and family. It's an interesting read, but definitely not one to read before bedtime to relax!
T.N. Nova (30 KP) rated Flaunt (Book 1 of the F-Word Series) in Books

Amazing M/M story
Flaunt by E. Davies is an amazing story of two men overcoming their past, confronting their issues, and falling in love. Nic is a transgender man and Kyle is gender non conforming. Both men have issues in their past that are affecting their present.
E. Davies did amazingly writing this story. While each person reacts to things differently, I loved how the emotions and reactions were so 'real'. I definitely will be revisiting and re-reading this book and will recommend it to others.

Good yet Repetitive
I was looking for something that would allow me to read the Tao Te Ching while providing me some insight on the reading as well. Although this book did allow me to read the Tao Te Ching and provided some insight on the writing, I found that often the insight was simply repeating what was already written in the Tao Te Ching, if not outright repeating them then simply rephrasing what was written. This gave me very little clarity and little insight.

Attempts at recreating original scenes
A good film that does 'The Shining' proud. Sometimes sequals can lack luster but Doctor Sleep earns it's place along side it's predecessor. The soundtrack, cinematography and acting make the film very enjoyable to watch however the script is long winded and there are moments when you wish the film would 'get on with it' as it is a bit slow in some places. If you've got a spare few hours and like Stephan King films then it's worth seeing.

After seeing an advert for Smashbomb on my Facebook news feed, I was intrigued to download the app. I love reading, watching films and playing games, as well as writing so this really screamed out to me. My partner and I now use this site to make decisions on what TV series we should watch next or what game we should next buy. Furthermore, I love the fact that you can enter giveaways. There are some really cool things on there - here's hoping I get chosen for some!

Surprise
I picked up this book knowing that the series was starting on Netflix. I did not expect to be sucked in and unable to put the book down until I finished three days later nor did I expect to then go out and purchase the rest of the series based solely on the stories and writing of the first book. it is a relatively easy read but still full of interesting characters and stories and I'm looking forward to seeing them fleshed out further.
