X-Men: first cast
Xmen follows Logan, a violent mutant without a past, eventually being forced back on the road he meets Rogue, a mutant with an unknown power that accidentally killed her boyfriend.
Attacked on the road and rescued by storm & Cyclops, the two quickly (for the plots sake) meet the X-Men, and after 50 no's and a yes, Wolverine reluctantly agrees to be an X-Men.
But with heroes come villains including, Magneto, toad, Sabretooth & mystique (because the studio couldn't afford more characters then either?)
A good movie at the time, which still holds up quite well today, decent graphics, acceptable action scenes and an easy to follow plot with some cheesy jokes.
Starring Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ian Mckellen, Famke Janssen, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Ray Park & Tyler Mane.

Very simple plot (2 more)
Where does this fit in with the series?
A little over hyped
A good send off
This is an enjoyable brutal action film. Quite bloody and violent now it has an R rating. The action scenes are good but the plot is very basic. My biggest problem is where does this fit in the franchise? Seems to have nothing to do with the latest X-Men films? Also can't help but think this won't be the last X-Men film.
Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated The Wolverine (2013) in Movies

Darren Aronofsky was originally chosen to direct this second Wolverine solo outing but had to drop out due to travel restraints. Instead, James Mangold was brought in to helm this thrilling adventure as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine was the fish-out-of-water that the series needed. Set for the majority of the runtime in Japan, and with an exciting action sequence set atop a bullet train, The Wolverine was a reasonable return to form for the X-Men solo movies.

Not much X appeal
Put off watching this for a while after mainly bad reviews for it. It's definitely a bit strange for an X-Men film as it feels much like a teen horror. It reminded me of @The Ward (2010) as these mutants are held in a creepy looking hospital facility that's isolated.
Thankfully the cast does have some talent and Anya Taylor-Joy steals the light in her scenes.
Once past the slow and dull first half of the film it did pick up a bit for the finale. Most likely disappointing for X-Men fans but Horror fans might like it more.

Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated X-Men Origins - Wolverine (2009) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019
Meant to be the start of a new Origins series in which we would learn about our favourite X-Men characters, Origins: Wolverine was a dreadful mess directed by Gavin Hood. Hugh Jackman has since could out and criticised the film, but it wasn’t helped by a practically finished version being leaked on the internet just months before its release. Loud, obnoxious and what were they thinking with Deadpool? Thankfully, Ryan Reynolds would have another chance at putting it right in 2016. It remains the worst in the series.
