GHOST OF A CHANCE is the second book in the Bucket List Buddies series, and I am seriously shipping Sven and Remy!!! Not to get ahead of myself, though, first let me tell you about Lionel and Brad.
Lionel is an alpha lion shifter with a (reasonable!) fear of the dark and things that slither and crawl, scamper and root. So going on a ghost hunting tour isn't really his thing, but he goes anyway, because he doesn't want to let down his friends. Brad is an omega teacup poodle shifter who has fought his way in a construction world. When he smells something, or rather, someone delicious, but with an undertone of fear, he wants to help. He is too late, but that doesn't stop him from trying. He will do what he can to help the one he thinks might be his mate.
Man, this was so good! I loved how Brad was all tongue-tied when they first met, even shifting when his poodle took over. I loved how Lionel was a-okay with having a mate who wasn't a lioness. I loved how Brad's family and friends, and Lionel's friends, all rallied round to celebrate their mating. And the thing I loved most of all? Was that Lionel and Brad tossed the standard alpha/omega dynamic on its head and OWNED it! They did what worked for them and stuff everyone else.
There is some angst in here from Lionel's old pack, but he was standing up to them when his mum arrived like an avenging angel! I'll be honest, I had my doubts about her when I was reading, but she more than made up for it at the end. Now, I'm hoping we get her story and she finally finds her own fated mate.
A brilliant combination of steamy, funny, and emotional, this was a fantastic read that I highly recommend.

SWEET HEAT is part of The Oriania Chronicles and I read this in one sitting! I simply couldn't put it down and was completely engrossed in Posie and Miller's story.
Told from both perspectives, you get a rounded view of what the other thinks, feels, and is going through. I really felt for Posie and her wanting to move out. Although her parents were loving, she needed her own independence. Due to a tragic car accident, Posie has anosmia and so can't smell or taste most foods. In a world where scent-matches are a big deal, poor Miller has to figure out a way of telling Posie he's her mate when things haven't been right between them for a long time. I won't tell you how happy I was when they finally had the opportunity to speak to each other without anyone else butting in!
Their story is set in a world where omegas have different rights and expectations, depending on where they live. Posie is lucky in one regard as she is able to go to college and have her own friends. Of course, she still has to deal with Alpha-holes who think they own the world and everyone in it.
I loved this story so much and want more from the characters I was introduced to. Owen, for all I loathed him at one point, deserves an omega who will shake his world. Niko, as well. Who doesn't love a big softie? And Damien, who supported Miller and never said a word. I'm not sure about Crimson as he seems a little big-headed, but I will read his story to see if he has hidden depths.
Mostly low angst, sweet, and oh-so-hot, this was a brilliant read by a new-to-me author. I only have one question - Where can I find a stalker like Miller? Asking for a friend! Absolutely brilliant and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.

loved the slower burn here!
Independent reviewer for GRR, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 4 in the Unexpected Love series, and I have not read books one and two. I read book 3, Jordan's Breakthrough, and I really liked that, even if the subject matter was a little close to home.
This book?? I LOVED!!
Vince is bouncer in the bar that centres around this group of people. He's struggling, but he doesn't want anyone to see. A fall where Fletcher rescues him, and Vince realises he really needs some help, even if he doesn't want it. But getting closer to Fletcher will mean revealing what's wrong with him, and dealing with Fletcher walking away. Vince can't do that, not again. Until, it's not Vince's decision anymore and Fletcher bounds his way into Vince's heart.
I said in my review for book 3, that the author had either first hand experience, or had done a massive amount of research on that subject. I stand by that here.
Vince is diagnosed with MS, a chronic autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the myelin sheath protecting nerves in the brain and spinal cord. Vince is feeling it in his feet, and his joints. Letting Fletcher help him, is not on his to do list, but Fletcher just lets Vince be. He sees Vince, really SEES what's going on behind the mask he puts on for his friends (Jordan was the same!) and Fletcher lets Vince do things at his own pace. I loved when Vince finally saw what Fletcher was telling him: He isn't on his own, he has support, he has friends who want to help.
I found the romance a slow build, but a natural progression from their friendship. I found the smex and steam low, but absolutely on point for these two! Emotional again, but in a very different way to Jordan's book.
The angst is low, apart from Vince's illness but even when Fletcher was trying to help, Vince bit back and snapped. He explained after, but still.

I honestly don't know where to start with this book as there are so many good points. I guess a good place to start with what you actually get with this book. This book contains all 12 episodes of the series, as well as the bonus "Lost diaries" of previous heroes and all of the collected Grimm's Fairy Tales so it makes for a very long and satisfying read.
The best way I can describe this set of books is to tell you to imagine Buffy the Vampire Slayer but instead of the Scoobies and her Watcher, imagine a great big, talking, sometimes visible, white Rabbit called Briar to his friends, otherwise known as Br'er Rabbit.
The wit is fast and sharp and on pretty much every page. There is also exhaustion, pain, temptation, and even time for the usual teenage angst. There are no plot holes and the story continues with a smooth flow, making your reading of it completely and thoroughly enjoyable. Be prepared though, if you're anything like me, you will cry! And not just once, either. Characters that you don't like to start with insidiously get under your skin until you do like them and then, of course, you worry about their well-being. (Yes, I know it's a book but it's written that well that you do care!!)
These fairy tales stay true to the originals by the Brothers Grimm, they have not been Disney-fied in any way. You could even say that they are 'grim' as they involve people being eaten, violence, and self-mutilation. These are all things that actually happened in these stories before they were 'softened' for today's children.
If you want a change from Disney, if you like a butt-kicking, fast-witted but altogether relatable Hero, if you want the warmth that the friendship of the Hero's helper or if you just want to read about fairy tales, then I can definitely recommend this set of Chronicles. Seriously, I can't recommend it highly enough. Absolutely brilliant.

WARNING - contains a spoiler!
THE REJECT AND THE REBOUND is the first book by this author I have read, although this is book three in the Leighton series. I do wish I had read the other books, but I don't feel as though it made a huge difference by not having done so.
Owen is the first one we meet, and he is trying to recover from his boyfriend walking out on him with no notice whatsoever. Alex is in a similar situation with his wife but further down the line. Both guys knew each other at school, although they ran in different circles. The attraction was there and maybe their time for acting upon it is now.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! There were a few things I wanted more of, but on the whole, this was a hug-of-a-book. It is fast-paced in that Alex and Owen get together quickly. Because of that, when life throws Alex a sh!tty curveball, there is a bit of angst between the two of them. But, do you know what? They both took time to think about the situation and dealt with it as mature men. Loved that part!

Maybe it's because it's part of a series, but this is one of the rare romance books where everything isn't tied up with a pretty bow at the end. We get the feeling that these two are it for as long as they live, but as the book ends, they are still living apart and are not engaged. I'm still unsure how I feel about that! 🤣 Life isn't neat and tidy, I know that, but I do like my romances with a HEA! Hopefully, as the series progresses, they will get theirs.

A great read but that cliffhanger is a doozy!
LOVE, PUCKS, & OTHER STORIES is the fourth book in the Rush Hockey series but the first book in Billie Rose and Joel's trilogy. I haven't read the previous three but that didn't impact my enjoyment of this story.
Oh, man, but I'm conflicted on this one. Let me start with the good things:
I loved how dedicated Billie Rose was to her town, even when people didn't see everything she did. And how she brings joy to her own life with washi tape. Joel accepts his place as a minor league hockey player, giving his support to those who will move on whilst he is happy to put down roots. Although he and Billie Rose are usually at loggerheads, when he actually opens his eyes, he sees there is so much more to her than he realised. And he goes about breaking through her walls, ever so softly, until he gets to see the real Billie Rose - workaholic and all.
Okay, so (without spoilers) here's what did me:
That ending! Well, that and it took so long for Joel to figure out that harpy isn't necessarily a nice word! I mean, come on. Even if he didn't see her flinch, on what planet - when he grew up with a nice mum and sisters - did he think that was okay? And speaking of his nice mum and sisters, plus his dad, I can't believe that no one, NO ONE, ever mentioned said ending. Not once! Not even in passing. I'm sure most people will be loving that cliffhanger but, for me, it ruined it slightly. Now there's going to be unnecessary angst with Joel explaining, Billie Rose not believing, and lots of time grovelling until hey, everything's fine again.
On the whole, I enjoyed the story and would recommend it if a) you're a fan of Ms Faber's writing and b) if you don't mind cliffhangers because, trust me, this one's a doozy!

The Boy Who Fell to Earth by A. Zukowski
The Boy Who Fell to Earth is an angst-ridden book that tells of the rises and falls of being a drug-addict child who has slipped through the cracks (by his own intention and actions). Sasha has had a very troubled childhood, and he faces the reaper the night he is dumped on Jay's lawn. Although Jay doesn't have a lot, he still has a whole lot more than Sasha. The attraction between these two is instantaneous, and that posed a bit of a problem to me. Whilst Sasha appears a lot older than his years - and rightly so! - Jay seems quite immature by comparison. I know it is a case of opposites attract, but there were instances when I just couldn't quite believe his words or actions.
There is a lot that goes on in this book, and you will be rooting for Jay and Sasha all the way through - even with Jay's immaturity. It is easy to forget the ages of Jay and Sasha, even though they are mentioned frequently. It is almost like your brain doesn't want to admit that this can happen to young adults, and instead tricks you into thinking they are older than they are. The reminders of their ages was always well written, placed somewhere natural, rather than just telling you out of the blue.
I think this book is a marmite book. I think some people will love it, and some will dislike it. As for me, I'm pondering on it. There was a lot that I liked, and a lot that I didn't. None of what I didn't like was a fault of the writing or the author. It was, plain and simple, the darkness of what was happening. I read 'dark' books, but this one is a slice of reality that you can't just ignore as 'another book'.
I would recommend trying this book, although be aware that some of the subjects mentioned may be triggers for some. You will enjoy it, or you won't, but don't miss out on the opportunity of finding out for yourself. I wish Jay and Sasha every happiness because they surely deserve it!

It is easy to forget the ages of Jay and Sasha, even though they are mentioned frequently.
