ClareR (6106 KP) rated Victorian Psycho in Books
Feb 28, 2026
Unhinged. That’s the first word that comes to mind when I think of Victorian Psycho. I mean she is. A psycho, that is.
Is it nature or nurture? Macabre, blood thirsty thoughts go through her mind, and to begin with I wasn’t sure if she was “thinking” or “doing”. Comedy horror, except dark, dark comedy, this book made me laugh as well as cringe. Victorian repression let loose with homicidal mania. To be perfectly honest, these people deserve it. Uptight snobs who treat servants terribly, and the servants let them because they need the job. Not the Nanny. She’s taking none of their nonsense.
The question running through my mind as I was reading wasn’t: “Will she murder someone horrifically?”. It was more: When and how will she murder someone, and who will she start with? It’s going to be horrific!” And it’s not who you’d think.
A dark, dark read with a touch of Dickensian social commentary. The Nanny is an antihero who I ended up backing, of course. Please don’t judge me - I don’t condone murder of the rich though! 🫢
Great writing and well worth a read. Just close your eyes during the most blood-thirsty parts *nods sagely*.

Visually impressive film
A great entertaining film, with plenty of action and a very impressive visual style similar to Sin City. Although the fights are great and very violent the use of CGI blood effects gave it quite a comic book feel and help tone the gore side down a bit. The story is very simple and to the point, not a deep film it is all about the battles and the visuals. Great if you liked Troy, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven but some viewers might want a bit more story to break up all the action. However it's definitely worth experiencing!

Psychologically damaged lead (2 more)
Lots of blood and gore
Disturbing to the viewer
A helluva good slasher flick
This review is for the original movie. Not the tamed down, all be it good remake starring Elijah Wood.
I watched this after the remake. And it blew me away with its originality and disturbing actors portrayal of the lead.
If you like being freaked out by performance. Than this movie is for you.
In 1980, we were just being introduced to a massive amount of slice and dice horror films. And this one ranks as one of the best

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Sadie Sapiens (Sadie Sapiens #1) in Books

You want a book that will evoke an emotional response? Then [Sadie Sapiens] by [Jeff Bauer] is it. If this book does not cause you to cry, laugh, and want to hurt someone you must be some kind of scary person.
The story of a special bond between a dog and her human takes you on twists and turns. It shows the good of humanity as well as the dark side. Mostly it shows the importance of loving your pack, (aka family), those created by blood and choice.
Now I must go converse with my cats.

I watched this series in entirety last Monday, as I was intrigued by the synopsis. A TV presenter/representative encouraging violence to up his ratings? It was beyond intriguing. Though, at the end of the series, I wasn't really sure who was telling the truth, and who wasn't. Everyone seemed corrupted. I was also shocked at all of the blood and death that they showed on the television program.
This documentary is completely in Portuguese, so if reading subtitles isn't something you like to do, this wouldn't be for you. Personally, I watch everything with subtitles, so it didn't bother me at all.

Disney's deadpool
Ryan Reynolds returns in this PG re-imagining of deadpool 2 and without blood or cursing, you ask how could he manage?
Well he'll do it all, with the help of Fred Savage.
In this pg version, deadpool has kidnapped and taped Fred Savage to his bed in this Princess Bride style telling of deadpool 2, with 15-20 mins of new scenes, its worth watching this movie if only for the pure banter between fred and wade which includes a small musical number.
This movie was made to help the fight against cancer ?

Feb 10, 2018 (Updated Feb 10, 2018)
This film does exactly as it sets out to do. It's a pure over the top adrenalin rush almost from start to finish. Babes, bullets, blood, bad-ass characters and a Dodge charger. Think Crank meets Shoot 'em up with an almost comic book setting. I really enjoyed and found it an action packed film, that's tongue firmly in cheek. Add a cool car and the sexy Amber Heard and you get good popcorn entertainment, would have liked to have seen it in 3D! If you like wild wacky films that are just fun to watch check this out!
Book Divas (227 KP) rated BONES in Books

OMG!! This was such a deviantly twisted and disturbing book.... I LOVED it and every single stomach-turning moment. The story was written in such a way that I could practically hear the victims last breathes right in my ear and could smell all of the spilled blood. Guy is truly a pathological deviant and in tune with himself. Bones would make an excellent movie. Kudos to Yolanda for allowing us the opportunity to delve into her dark and twisted mind. This is a must read but not for those who are squeamish as great detail has been put into these horrific acts!
BobbiesDustyPages (1259 KP) rated True Romance (1993) in Movies

A messed up kind of love story but a love story none the less.
True Romance is one of those movies that was really sad that I didn't know about it sooner especially since I grew up on Tarantino movies. From start to finish it really is just a damn good movie with a surprisingly good love story mixed in with all the blood and drugs. There's a hell of a lot of action a really good story amazing characters and just the over-the-top violence that you come to expect from these type of movies.
