Tigris & Euphrates
Tigris & Euphrates
1997 | Abstract Strategy, Ancient, Civilization, Territory Building
The best edition of one of the best, must-own board games in the world.
Tigris & Euphrates is one of my favourite games of the last twenty years, and a true classic of the modern boardgame era. Looking at the BGG rankings again, I find it an affront that it is not in the top-20 like it once used to be. Its current edition is the best that has ever been published. This is a must-buy; that's just it.

Fast game to play

This was a quick little game. Since it is a two-player, my friend and I played it while our DM put the last few touches on a one-off D&D campaign. It took about 20 minutes from learning to play to checking the final scores. I enjoyed the puzzle aspect of the game, though I don't always have the spatial awareness to determine how a piece would fit on my board so my piece of patchwork had many holes!

Qwixx Deluxe
Qwixx Deluxe
2016 | Dice Game
This is another fun one. It is quick and easy to learn. Packaged small so it's easy to bring with anywhere. The habe is played by rolling dice of various colors and taking the value of the colored dice you roll. You have your own board to fill out showing the different colored dice numbered 2 to 12. You must pick at least one die to fill in, but if you skip over numbers, you can't go back for them. This is a race to claim the most numbers before they have all been eliminated.

A true classic start game
A game in the same leagues as Settlers of Catan. Building rail routes is fun. Games can get very strategic, or can be very simple depending on the group. Most games there are no clear winners, with the winner only really being revealed at the end of the game. Really good gateway board game, which is easy to explain and play and good with big groups.

Challenging
Engaging
Easy to pick up
Well made
Excellent team coop game
This game is a firm favourite when we do board-game days.

You play either heros or zombies. There are various different missions and games are usually close, going down to the wire and adding to the thrill of it. Worth every penny and I shall be getting the expansions for it.

Did I mention it's well thought out? It's so good - you can tell someone has put a lot of effort into getting the balance just so.

Board game for beginners
Tsuro, a game I first found out about from Tabletop episodes. This game is very much as advertised there, easy to pick up and play, and can be a bit of a laugh when you outplay others.

I very much enjoy this game, and I think the casual nature can lead much to desire, however there are times when I would like a more longer and intense game then the 5 minute short bursts.

Pure luck
No strategy or any type of thinking
A great game to pass time and dont need thinking just roll the dice and enjoy
It is agreat game for family or groups to play against each other and have some suspense and fun but if you are a person who loves to think and build a strategy and be more intellectual this game will not be your best choice it is just about dice and having a goid luck

Queendomino is a big step up (0 more)
Simple. Great for kids & casual gamers
Build your kingdom using tiles in a domino-style game. Score by matching zone types with crowns on your tiles. This game is a lot of fun & great for casual players. Heavy-duty players may find it too simplistic. The "sequel" Queendomino kicks it up a notch. But if you're gonna play with your kids or your wife, who may not be the biggest board game geek, this one is okay.

I agree, after a while it's time to graduate, but I enjoy the simplicity of this one.

My favorite board game
This is hands down my favorite table top game. It unfolds in two parts both of which I greatly enjoy. The first is building the house (discovering new rooms where events, items, and omens occur). It has a cool co-op feel as well. The haunts are always exciting because you really have no idea what's going to happen. It becomes D&D lite and some haunts are less fun than others buy it greatly increases playability.
