A classic
Pretty much everyone I know within my similar generation absolutely loves this film, even one me and my brother both agree on, which is unusual.
This is still one of the best and scariest sci-fi horror films I’ve seen since this was originally released. It’s dark, ominous and full of blood and gore. The effects at the time were very good, although admittedly they haven’t aged as well watching it back now and some of the CGI especially looks a bit dodgy. It has a fantastic cast, it’s one of my all time favourite Sam Neill films and you can’t really go wrong with Jason Isaacs and Sean Pertwee either. The plot is fairly straight forward but very creepy, and this will always be the film that spawned the pencil through paper wormhole explanation (sorry Interstellar).
This film isn’t perfect by any means and has sadly not aged as well as it should, but for me it’s still one of my favourites and a true classic sci-fi horror, not far off the likes of Alien etc.

One of the original sci-fi classics
Up there with the original War of the Worlds as an original science fiction classic.
The art direction, look, feel and musical score of the film are amazing even by today's standards. Ok some of the special effects have not aged well, but it doesn't take away from the foreboding and interesting adventure.

Grippingly written - you're always looking for signs as to who is a friend/foe (2 more)
Considered sci-fi in some circles but would appeal to non-sci fi readers just the same
Equally good read as a "thinking" book or just as an ordinary lazy afternoon read
Classic Atwood - read it before you watch the series!
A cautionary tale (to the extreme) of what could happen when people fail to uphold a "fair" society and keep an increasingly authoritarian ruling class in check, told from the perspective of a reproductive servant/slave.
The story is timely given the theme of reproductive rights and women and social equality issues that have sprung up around certain political arenas in the recent news - which makes the tone of the story even more sardonic in this light. The plot and setting could comfortably fit in as a neighbouring country, say, of other dystopian novel settings such as 1984, Brave New World, and A Clockwork Orange.

A future classic
I first bought this book years ago when I was waiting for my bus. The cover had been peeking out at me and the blurb cried out. Information on it was scant but I had a feeling it was going to be good.
High Howey's impressive and, originally, self-published sci-fi is a must-read for fans of the genre. There are plenty twists and turns to keep you going and they become even more important the more you get through the series.

Existential Sci Fi at it's best.
A modern classic, everyone should see this once, and decide for themselves: the Red Pill or the Blue Pill.... a little bit of Trivia: All of the references to street corners (for example, Wells and Lake) are real intersections in Chicago, Illinois, The Wachowskis' hometown. The subway train has signs for "Loop," another Chicago reference.

So part of my childhood growing up in the 70s that I still remember this classic sci fi and according to the show the moon left eatrth orbit 13th September 1999 which would make it 20 years ago on Friday just been the effects are abit outdated by today's standards but that's part of its charm. Top notch acting from both Martin Landau and Barbara bain as the leads. And been remade on audio recently by big finish productions which I'm going to listening too in the future

Silence is not golden.
I wanted to see this in the theaters when it came out but who really has that kind of money these days? Redbox is the best option for seeing all the new movies as soon as you can afford to in my opinion. This movie is a classic sci fi thriller. You kind of know what's going to happen just from the premise but it does manage to throw you a few curve balls and jump scares along the way. I can't say that I've ever seen an alien movie quite like this one so I enjoyed it's originality. The use of ASL was much appreciated as it is very rarely utilized in films. Some moments made me want to scream in annoyance but then ... I'd be dead if it was real, wouldn't I? I fully recommend watching this film if sci fi thrillers are your thing and even if they aren't.
