Book one of the Riftwar Saga is a definite must read. I've seen Raymond Feist's books on the shelf for years and only now decided to read one. This and the second, Magician Master ,were originally written as one book. It tells the story of Pug, who rises from an orphan to become one of the most powerful magicians in any kingdom. Feist writes beautifully , making the reader forget the real world and become fully immersed in theirs. Definite addition to anyone's list that appreciates an epic fantasy story.

I couldn't take my eyes off the screen, I love horrors and most of the time their cliche but this was epic, the music creating a dramatic atmosphere. The story of loss and life, the risks they took every day to survive.

The way to defeat the creatures was realised by the daughter and it was a truly mesmerising moment between mother and daughter.

I bet the second one they become one hell of a team to remove the rest of the alien creatures from earth.

I found this book at a used bookstore. I have read Wrede before and it was fun reading something from her earlier works and seen how much she had grown as an author.
This book was written at a time when female characters were not normally a lead, so there is a few stumbles as she establishes her world and where everything is going. It can be a bit predictable and underwhelming at places. but all in all an easy read that shows potential and fun take on the epic genre.

Great game with a huge open world to explore. The dialogue system is so detailed, you can really get as much or as little info out of the NPCs as you want.

I think my only criticism so far is that you're occasionally forced to travel through areas that are astronomically outside of your current level on the way to complete quests that are slightly below your level. Dealable but can be a bit frustrating.

Overall though, it's only minor niggles, the rest of the game is detailed, engaging and suitably epic!
