Love that this changes each time
One of my favourite games of late! The evil component of the game changes dependant on where you are, and what item you pick up, which means it can be completely different every time you play.

Each game takes around an hour or so, and depending on your fate, it can either be a cooperative game, or when the haunt begins, it can turn into a free-for-all!

Fun, tense and exciting, I'd highly recommend this game!

What is there to say about The Evil Dead that hasn't been said before? It's a bonafide genre classic, and a masterclass in what can be done with a tiny budget. The practical effects are equally impressive as they are gross. Tom Sullivans effects work is quite something, even all these years later. Combine all of this with Sam Raimis erratic, invasive, and sometimes nauseous camera work, and the result is a unique and disturbing horror ride that still has the capacity to scare 40 years on.

Also, Bruce fucking Campbell.

I can't believe that this film is now more than 25 years old!

Action/comedy/sci-fi mix, back when Bruce Willis had hair (albeit bleached blond here), that - I believe - was also a pre Resident Evil Milla Jovovich's breakout role, and with Gary Oldman chewing up the scenery alongside Chris Rock's (initially annoying, but grows on you) DJ Ruby Rod.

Well worth a watch: one of those movies that, if I come across while channel surfing, I'll probably sit down to watch the rest of.

Entry #14 in James Rollins now long-running Sigma Force series; again a mixture of science and fiction: think Dan Brown, maybe, or even Michael Crichton.

This time around, the threat that Sigma force (and, perforce, the world) faces is one of our own making: that of Artificial Intelligence (or AI), and - more specifically - that of an 'evil' (one with no moral qualms or compunctions) AI let loose. So, think Terminator's Skynet, basically.

If you've read any of the previous entries in the series, you know pretty much what to expect ...

Back to the good old days
Everyone had an opinion on Resident Evil after RE6 was released, even if most people had gave up on the series after being let down by RE5. The series had something to prove if it was going to stick around and it did so by going the route of the soft reboot. There are no major corporation facilities or armies of undead coming after you in Biohazard. You spend the entirety of the game in and around an old, creepy house in the middle of a bayou in the Deep South, with only a few relentless enemies to battle in the form of the psychotic, cannibalistic Baker family. With not much of a clue what’s going on, you wander into hell on earth, unarmed and terrified, then things only go from bad to worse. The game has a gross kind of beauty to it and an unrelenting intensity throughout. If you are a fan of old school horror and love scaring the living daylights out of yourself, then do yourself a favor and pick this up.
