Little Ray Of Sunshine (41 KP) rated Dumplin' (2018) in Movies

Dumplin' is a must watch film of 2019
Wow, this film made me cry as you rooting for WillowDean Dickson nicknamed Dumplin' to achieve her goal to win the beauty pageant. This film shows you that if you put your mind to it you can do it. Also if you plus size you can still be worth in beauty and fashion. I feel Danielle Macdonald (plays Dumplin') role in this film will take her on to amazing films. I love how this shows all girls that you can feel body positivity any size. It makes me feel that I need to proud of my body I was born in.
It's worth the watch.

Average Island
Well I don't really know anything about the old TV series apart from the actors. There are a few little nods to it but this is very different. The location looks nice and the start of the various fantasies coming to life is fun to see. Once things turn more sinister though the film becomes quite slow and rather dull than amazing. A few twists as to what is really going on with the island, but by then you really won't care about the characters that much. A shame as there was a lot of potential here to be creative but it ends in typical, predictable fashion. I had low expectations and they were met.

I totally love this book!
It's sweet, it's romantic, it's heart-breaking.
Rowen Sterling, you are one lucky woman to find a guy like Jesse. He's amazing! He doesn't care about your past or your fashion sense, he cares about you, the person. (Just writing that is making me want to fill up :') he's so sweet). I loved him from early on and he grew on me throughout.
Rowen, you may have been broken when you got to that ranch but look what the love of a good family will do to you...
Looking forward to reading the next in the series, to see what else happens between these two.
P.S. This is a cowboy New Adult book! Two things I love in one! :D

It's the end.
I feel kinda sad that this is the last time that I will ever read about Claire, Shane, Eve, Michael, Amelie, Oliver, Myrnin and the rest of Morganville. Over the last fifteen books the little town and it's residents have grown on me.
I've always loved Myrnin and I think I love him a little more after this. He's definitely memorable with his crazy fashion sense and his lab. The other thing that I loved in this book was the Glass House, it's always had a personality but the way it went about helping the gang in this one *grins*
I'm glad that everything worked out in the end, both for the humans and the vampires. A nice ending to the series.

Very stylish
Check.... Mate
Thought I'd check this out, pun intended. Heard very good things about this, everyone seems to be watching this. I was a bit dubious how a short series about a Chess prodigy would make interesting viewing. I happen to like Chess as well.
The story follows Beth a young girl sent to an orphanage and discovers a natural ability for Chess and an addiction.
The show is very stylish, with the 60's fashion, Cars and Music. Anya Taylor-Joy has a look that just grabs your attention with her striking red hair. It's interesting, especially if you do play yourself, although it does progress as you would expect.
You'll breeze through it in no time.

Gruesome, gory, deep
The first book of the series, introduces us to DI Jack Caffrey a young successful detective in the Met.
He has seen and done things in life which have hardened him and made him fairly unshakeable and able to handle any given situation.
Is he however prepared for his latest call, five young women have been murdered in a gruesome fashion and the bodies have been dumped by the millennium dome.
As the post mortems come in Jack realises there are similarities in each case and he comes to realise he is now hunting a dangerous serial killer.
He must act fast and use everything at his disposal to catch the killer before he strikes again.

Awix (3310 KP) rated The Matrix (1999) in Movies
Jul 14, 2019 (Updated Aug 11, 2019)
Age shall not diminish, nor dubious sequels reduce the magic of the Wachowskis' visionary blend of philosophical SF and hyperkinetic martial arts action. Arguably the origin of the current superhero movie, as uncertain hero Neo undergoes the conceptual breakthrough to end all conceptual breakthroughs, learns to access his inner potential, and discovers that black never goes out of fashion.
The script is still a marvel of economy and wit, the ideas underpinning it fascinating, and the action sequences, when they arrive, are phenomenal. Obviously a film of its time (the pseudo-1999 setting now feels a little quaint), but absolutely timeless in the way the very best films are. One of those movies it is almost impossible to change without making it worse.

Awix (3310 KP) rated The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) in Movies
Aug 1, 2020
Outstanding western starring and directed by Clint Eastwood. The American civil war transforms ordinary farmer Josey Wales into a ruthless, deadly gunfighter - but when his side is defeated, is there any chance he can leave violence behind and find a new life?
Made just as the western was going out of fashion as a genre, there's a strikingly elegiac quality to this film - it includes all the requisite action and violence, but also considers wider issues about what it means for people to try and live together. Brings real heart and soul to the slightly cartoony character Eastwood played for Sergio Leone. In some ways this is a very serious film, but it also works superbly as a piece of entertainment.
