Mark Halpern (153 KP) rated The Birds (1963) in Movies
Feb 9, 2018
Death from above
A rich woman (hedren) who is really in love with her beau (taylor) follows him to a remote town in California where out of no where all kinds of birds from small to large begin to attack and reek havoc on the towns people.
Out of the mind of Hitchcock comes one of his more scarier tales. From what I have read that after the first screening of the movie a lot of the viewers screamed when a flock of birds happened to fly over them

Tamsin Clark (15 KP) rated Legion - Season 1 in TV

Where did it go?
This was a superb first season, but where did the series go? It seems to have been forever since I heard anything about it.
I absolutely love the twisty, surreal feel to the episodes. The way things progress as each episode moves on only keeps you more and more focused on the story, and pining for more at the end. Every character has a dark past that ties in with other characters and really brings the whole narrative together. Definitely recommend and very much hoping there will be a second season.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Lesson Plans (Lesson Plans #1) in Books
Mar 3, 2018
In all honesty this is the first book by J.A. Armstrong I picked up. It drew me in as a teacher but when I realized it was a spin off of the By Design series I put it aside and started that one. I read this one at the time it seemed to fit into the other series. I love the characters and how their relationship develops. Michelle and Melanie's relationship evolving from just friends to more just flowed. As with all of Armstrong's characters they all have flaws but that makes them real.

Clare Parrott (294 KP) rated Marrying the Rancher in Books
Mar 5, 2018
Tandy Graham leaves the army to to look after her son, Scott on the Arizona ranch she inherited after the death of her father. Life becomes quite hostile from the other ranchers after biologist Wyatt returns to track the wolves he released a few years previous.
This is the first book I've read from Roz Denny Fox and would certainly read more from this author. Marrying the rancher is a slow building clean romance with a hit of suspense and fans of Mills and Boon Cherish will love it.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2355 KP) rated Caught in a Bind in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Merry Kramer's co-worker is having a rough week. First, her husband vanishes. Then he's accused of stealing money from his work. Finally, a dead body shows up in her garage. Can Merry figure out what is going on? I love these characters, and the book drew me in even on a reread. However, I found the sub-plot about spousal abuse often became preachy and slowed down the book.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2355 KP) rated The Secret of the Mansion (Trixie Belden #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Meet Trixie, Honey, and Jim as the trio form a friendship and hunt for the treasure that is supposed to be in Jim's great uncle's old house.
This is a very favorite series from childhood on, and I just love meeting the characters again for the first time. They aren't quite themselves yet, and can be annoying as a result. Just know they grow stronger from their friendships by the next in the series.

I enjoyed all three stories in this book. I was with emotional though out the book. The first book is about learning to deal with death of a love one and learn to get though your marriage struggles of your marriage that you when though.
The second book talks about depression and a bit about marriage struggles. This book also talks about telling the truth and adoption. This is quite a story and about foster care as well.
The third story is about death as well and learning to trusting in good.

HyruleBalverine (16 KP) rated Unstable Unicorns in Tabletop Games
Mar 21, 2018
To be fair, I did help fund this on Kickstarter (in fact it was the first time I'd ever used Kickstarter) and I was glad to pick this game to start with! I've since played it several times with different groups of friends and we all love the game. Adding in the expansions, which are amazing and quite funny, can make the game take longer (in particular the Apocalypse Expansion, as that is exactly what it was designed to do). Pick up a copy and have a blast!

Erika (17789 KP) rated Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) in Movies
Mar 30, 2018 (Updated Mar 30, 2018)
I wanted to like this.. but it was not good. I love big dumb action films, and I loved the 1st Pacific Rim, but Jesus, they can't keep making movies like this. The first Pacific Rim had heart, and it was interesting.
This film was not interesting. It was predictable, and kind of lame. It seemed to definitely be aimed more towards children. All of the best parts of the jaeger fighting were shown in the trailers. I'm so disappointed.
I feel so betrayed. Why TF did they make this movie without GDT?

Clare Parrott (294 KP) rated Crochet Workshop in Books
Feb 13, 2018
Not for me, I love colour, it's what sells the book to me first and foremost. Its what draws me in and makes me have a closer look. This is bland and boring. Black and white photos, black and white diagrams, black and white text...boring. It would be quite at home in the 60's
Now don't get me wrong if your a beginner or and expert crocheter like myself you will find this book a fountain of knowledge you just won't find it on my shelf in the craft room
