The Deadly Seven
The Magnificent Seven- i haven't seen both Seven Samurai and the 1960 verison. I would like to see the 1960 verison cause it has Steve McQueen and Charlies Bronson in it. Its good to see a good western movie these days, cause we either dont see them to often or their not good. So to see a remake of The Magnificent Seven in 2016 was both a surpise and good. With a great cast, Antonie Fuqua directing, good action and Denzel Riding a horse. It was a good movie.

The plot: Looking to mine for gold, greedy industrialist Bartholomew Bogue seizes control of the Old West town of Rose Creek. With their lives in jeopardy, Emma Cullen and other desperate residents turn to bounty hunter Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington) for help. Chisolm recruits an eclectic group of gunslingers to take on Bogue and his ruthless henchmen. With a deadly showdown on the horizon, the seven mercenaries soon find themselves fighting for more than just money once the bullets start to fly.

Good action, good cast, horses and more, The Magnificent Seven lives up to both Seven Samurai and the 1960 verison.

The Deer Hunter (1978)
The Deer Hunter (1978)
1978 | Drama, War

"The Deer Hunter. I think the subject matter was very interesting. The way Michael Cimino works, he just got so much out of his actors, especially De Niro, Walken, and John Cazale, even secondary characters like the French guy in the movie. I’ve probably seen the movie 30 times, and you’re just on the edge of your seat the whole time, you don’t know what’s going to happen next. I think the interesting relationship that Walken and De Niro had with Meryl Streep is very complex. Really great movies are made out of special moments, and there were just so many moments in the movie, like when Chris Walken broke down when they were asking him his family’s name while he’s sitting in the window. I always remember that. The way that Bobby De Niro went back to rescue his friend. I think the movie had a lot of layers and a lot of integrity, and I think the love these men had for one another was so real you could identify with it. It was like going back to get your brother, you know?"

First off, let me say what a real treat this was to read! With the "urban fantasy" genre flooding the market as the flavor of the moment, it's rare for a book like this to come along and force me to reconsider dipping into that genre now and again!

'The God Hunter' feels like the most perfect rollercoaster: the beginning starts out smooth, with a bit of fun, a relaxed feel to the style. Then, it begins to pick up a bit, as more of the bigger picture unfolds, then it heads in the scream-a-rific thrill ride as the coaster dives into the finale.

The one thing that really stuck in my mind while reading this: "Dang! This would make one hell of a great movie!" Seriously, Mr. Lees has a great sense of characterization and pacing that seem to be lacking in so many movies these days!

So, in conclusion, I'd just like to say that in a genre such as "urban fantasy", Tim Lees brings something fresh and fun, with just the right amount of white-knuckled adrenaline rush, to the table!
