Mel (490 KP) rated Let Sleeping Vets Lie in Books
Oct 18, 2019
This book is a lovely, easy, comfortable read. It isn't taxing and it won't set the world alight but it is a light hearted depiction of a bygone age with funny stories of James Herriot's early life as a vet.
There were a couple of sections that haven't aged as well like the story where he drives down to late night job after copious tastings of home brewed wine but other than that there is very little to offend and a lot to enjoy.

Sarah Betts (103 KP) rated Gravemaidens (Gravemaidens, #1) in Books
Dec 30, 2019
I received this copy of Gravemaidens from Delacorte Press through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fascinating fantasy with a character who think she's a lot smarter than she really is.
I'm not sure if that's intentional or not so that may not be an actual complaint.
Kammani's bitterness about the society she lives in is justified and her anger provides most of the books fuel.
I really did like this book and I'm excited to see where the second one takes us!

James Koppert (2698 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Outlast 2 in Video Games
Dec 30, 2019
Excuse me while I empty my pants
I've played a lot of scary games from Silent Hill to F. E. A. R. and, well, wasn't scared. I haven't played Outlast but Outlast 2 shook me up. It is really messed up and the entire game you run for your life. It is so well done from the sounds to having to use night vision on your camera. Go get scared

I wanted to watch this from the trailers, and it was such a good show from start to finish. Warning for very explicit scenes but, you get so lost in these characters that it shouldn't be too much of a bother. Each character was very unique, there was a lot of diversity and it explored sex and everything that comes with that in a respectful way. Some trigger warnings might apply, like abortions, homophobia, and bullying but, they all send a very strong message.

Adam Stubbs (18 KP) rated Harry Potter: Wizards Unite in Apps
Jul 3, 2019
Not lived up to the hype
Although it was a good idea, and a lot of fans were very excited about this game, I feel they added too much to the game, and over complicated it... if some of the features had been added in updates it wouldāve allowed players to familiarise themselves with the mechanics of the game at a steadier pace, but despite this it is nice to have a new Harry Potter themed piece of media to enjoy

Phil Leader (619 KP) rated Jumper Bounces Back in Books
Nov 18, 2019
Jumper Bounces Back is the second book from Rebecca Scarberry about the lovable red ball that just can't stop having adventures. Young children will love hearing about his exploits as he searches for his owner while having a lot of fun on the way. Meanwhile parents will enjoy the depth of the story.
Scarberry gets into her stride with this book making it even better than the first. If you have young children it is a terrific book to add to your bedtime reading list.

Jessica Erdas (463 KP) rated Dumplin' (2018) in Movies
Nov 20, 2019 (Updated Nov 20, 2019)
A story about loving yourself even when society tells you not to. Willowdean is a plus size girl and the daughter of a pageant queen. She lives in contrast to her mother who lives based on appearances. Will decides to enter a beauty pageant as a form of protest to the perceived perfection they target and learns a lot about herself, friendship, and family. The message of body positivity and loving yourself/embracing yourself for who you are is very heartwarming. One worth rewatching.

EmersonRose (320 KP) rated The Princess Diarist in Books
Nov 20, 2019
This is one of those books I have been meaning to read for a while. It was a lot of fun to get some background on Carrie as well as tidbits on some of my other faves such as Debbie Reynolds, Mark Hamil, and Harrison Ford. The book is mostly about Carrieās relationship with Harrison during the filming of the first film. I really liked hearing Carrie describe her life in the audiobook and it was fun that Billie Lourd also narrated some of the journal entries.

EmersonRose (320 KP) rated Saga in Books
Nov 20, 2019
I have not read a lot of comics. I did get very into Valerian and Laureline and the new Labyrinth comic, but both I got into because of already being a fan of the story from the movie versions. Getting into this media, both of my brother (avid comic book readers) each suggested some comics for me. My younger brother suggested saga. I really enjoyed reading it. I found the story, style, voice, magic, and characters to all work great. I will continue reading this series soon!

Madeline Baker (2 KP) rated An Abundance of Katherines in Books
Nov 22, 2019
Like all other John Green books, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. This book is probably my least favourite of all his books. 1. It didn't live up to his other books 2. It didn't really have a climax or turning point. 3. There was a lot of maths and jumping from reading to the bottom of the page. Wasn't really for me, but I did like it and enjoyed it.
