AT (1676 KP) rated Spy x Family, Vol. 1 in Books
Aug 6, 2020
I'd heard a lot of good things about Spy x Family, which is a new manga series. I gave the first volume a try, and was pleasantly surprised. It was very cute. The first volume focuses on how the three main characters come together, and how they begin the spy's mission, unbeknownst to the mother, who is actually an assassin. Since the adults don't know about each other's real professions, they are a little socially awkward while trying to appear as a real family. It makes for a cute first volume.

David Betteridge (327 KP) rated X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) in Movies

Worst of the lot!
I know this is the last Fox produced X-men film however they haven't even tried with it, i was hoping they would go out with a bang! They have already explored the Phoenix story line i the original time line and got it all wrong, you would have thought they would learn, but no, this is possibly worse, the acting is terrible, even the basics of the characters are all wrong, what annoyed most was the handling of Nightcrawler, what a waste!

Chloe (778 KP) rated Lullaby Girl in Books

Clever
Lullaby girl awakes on a Scottish Loch with no memory of her past except the Norwgian Lullaby she is singing. Read as her memories unfold to reveal a harrowing ordeal.
The story had great potential and for 75% of the book I did really enjoy it, it lived up to the suspense expected. The characters at the womens home were really different and built up so that you felt terror when they were around.
I felt the ending was rushed and repetitive in places e.g. hiding a lot.

Ross (3284 KP) rated The Smiths by The Smiths in Music
May 4, 2020
Rolling Stone's 473rd greatest album of all time
I have been listening to a lot of 80s alternative music recently, having become obsessed with The Cure and Echo and the Bunnymen. My feelings for the Smiths has softened somewhat, moving to musical appreciation and less "I don't like Morrisey's voice", despite his recent apparent racist nationalism. But a few of the songs on this album put this back a step as he is quite insufferable at times. A few of their classics are here but generally overshadowed by him being … him.

Ross (3284 KP) rated Sandinista! by The Clash in Music
May 11, 2020
Rolling Stone's 407th greatest album of all time
When you compare the tracklisting of this triple-album to that of the Story of the Clash, it is clear this is not their best material. A triple-album is a brave move and has to be backed up with quality throughout. Sadly that isn't the case here. While it is a good enough listen, there is not a lot that stands out (mainly Magnificent Seven). For fans of dub and white men doing reggae. The version of Somebody Got Murdered is a travesty.
