Good waste of time
Facebook is a part of life these days, I've been on there for about 10 years and checking Facebook has become a must multiple times a day for me (more habit than anything else).
However it is such a waste of time. There are far too many ads and rubbish posted.
The powers that be on there are either overzealous or disinterested.
It's also a great way of making yourself miserable by comparing your life to others (which is often massaged to look better than reality)
I don't think I could leave Facebook but sometimes I kinda wish I'd not joined in the first place.

David McK (3222 KP) rated Hal Spacejock 2: Second Course in Books

Earlier this year, I picked up a novel (re)named '[b:Hal Spacejock 1: A robot named Clunk|12381591|Hal Spacejock 1 A robot named Clunk|Simon Haynes|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1524681176s/12381591.jpg|1083521].
I enjoyed it, but thought it was nothing special.
Recently, I saw an advert on Facebook (I think), for the first three of the Hal Spacejock (yes, that's the real name of one of the characters!) novels and a bonus short story for 99pence. As I'd been reading a lot of heavier fare recently, and as it was only 99p, I thought I would pick it up.
And, I have to say, I enjoyed this one (the second in that collection) more than I remember enjoying the first, complete with a few actually laughed-out-loud moments!

Everything I Could Hope For
As someone who grew up watching the beloved cartoon, Teen Titans, as well as an avid reader of the comic series, Titans and Teen Titans, a lot was riding against this TV show. However, I was truly surprised by how much I loved this series from the first episode. I've always adored the DC universe for their dark plotlines and backstories they give to the characters. I was thankful to see that they carried this same darkness into this television show. This paired with the talented way they showed the growth of the characters throughout the season was all done beautifully. I could not have possibly asked for more and look forward to the second season!
Emma @ The Movies (1786 KP) rated The Front Runner (2018) in Movies
Jun 22, 2019 (Updated Sep 25, 2019)
The Front Runner is a tricky one to sum up. We've got some excellent acting talent giving solid performances but *shrugs shoulders* it's just another average story. Perhaps it holds more weight with an American audience.
Much like Colette this one felt very long, but that feeling hit much earlier into the screening. I wasn't bored, but there was a lot of this film. I'm not even sure that taking anything out would improve my feelings about it.
I could honestly finish my review there, I made no notes at all. There was nothing that made this film stand out above anything else in this genre. It's a well made film about an average story, and that's its problem.
What you should do
It's a good film but it can definitely wait until it's streaming.

James Koppert (2698 KP) rated Weird AF News in Podcasts

Weird AF News
This is a brilliant free daily podcast. Basically comedian Jonesy reads out three daily news stories that walk on the weird side and gives his own narrative as if he's in a conversation with you the listener. He's a very clever comedian, it's unscripted and performed in a very natural way and has me laughing out loud every single day because of it. Not only is it interesting hearing strange goings on but you do end up laughing out loud in the middle of the street. Jonsey is not afraid to go anywhere and really pushes the boundaries and is garunteed to cheer you up and deserves a lot more recognition.

This is the diary of a young man who finds himself kidnapped and held captive in a bunker with a few others.
I think this is a massively underrated book and one that I always tell my friends about when they want book recommendations. It's a short book but it is a memorable one, which is why I rate it so highly.
The ending was brilliant, it leaves you asking a dozen other questions that won't be answered. I can see why some people may not like that, as a lot of stories don't leave you to imagine the ending, but I thought it was brilliant. I was left asking "But why were they abandoned?" Did the kidnapper get bored? Were the police getting too close to finding them?

Dean (6924 KP) rated Lethal Weapon - Season 3 in TV

Quite funny (1 more)
Lots of action
Good 3rd series
Well this 3rd series came as a big surprise as the actor playing Riggs is no longer a part of the show and wasn't replaced. So effectively it is no longer Lethal Weapon as we only have Murtaugh. Slightly odd decision but we now have Seann William Scott who is suitabley cast as a slightly crazy former CIA agent now partnered with Murtaugh.
The chemistry is good and generally quite funny a lot of the time, along with the usual action and shoot outs you expect. I didn't think I would enjoy this series as much with the big cast change. However it is nearly as good as the first two series. Maybe they should have called it something else though.

Wasn't the strongest of stories that are like this
Good but had it's down sides
The film was adequate to what other films are out there in this general style, I loved the cast and the filming was good. However the film took a while to kick in and i found myself gorming at my phone more so than watching the film. I really enjoyed some of the story and the action scenes were okay, they could have done a lot more with the film, I feel as though it wasnt thought through as much as it could have been, but overall is a good thing to watch casually if you have the time, or even put it on in the background while you're doing something else.
Caitlyn Ould (6 KP) rated Love, Simon (2018) in Movies

Love in a good form
I loved the book that this movie is based on so, so much. It was one of the best books that I read in 2018 along with it's sequel Leah on the Offbeat. And this was one of the best movies that I saw in 2018. The acting is superb and it's so relevant to today's society and culture with the pop culture references of Harry Potter, Brendon Urie, and even a Hamilton Easter Egg which I enjoyed. It also touches your heart and has a lot of themes to do with family at the very core and learning to let people see you for who you really are
Anne (15117 KP) rated The Shadow Queen (Ravenspire, #1) in Books
Nov 4, 2019
I've always strongly disliked Snow White, but Shadow Queen I like a lot - it's so much better than Snow White!
Also I love C.J. Redwine’s books - they're awesome! I love The Traitor Prince - it might be my favorite of her books so far. I'm reading The Wish Granter now after this book.
I love Lorelai, she's so much more relatable and awesome and Irina is even more understandable even though she is detestable and disgusting with her evil wickedness.
And I love Kol and his little group of friends and Kol and Lorelai together complement each other.
I am gaining a new level of appreciation and interest in the fairy tales because of these great retellings.
If you haven't checked this book out or any of these by C.J. Red wine, you should.
